The team:

The team is responsible for quant applications used for delivery of optimisation services for large financial institutions. We value learning from and supporting each other in order to benefit from our different strengths and experiences. We are strong believers that collaboration is key to innovation and to produce a user experience and a technical solution that we can be proud of.

Responsibilities and impact:

OSTTRA is a FinTech company at the heart of the global financial system, dedicated to building the future of post-trade. We keep our eyes on the horizon, always on the lookout for new possibilities and opportunities while staying with our feet on the ground, making sure we deliver rock solid services that our clients rely on for their daily business and success. Our optimisation services create distinct positive impacts to client portfolio risk profiles and operational costs. When our services execute, global metrics of systemic risks in the financial markets improve significantly.

Long-term value to the client is the most important goal of our team, and your contribution in the form of delivery, improvements and innovations can have a significant impact on the financial system.

We are seeking talented and passionate individuals with a background in applied mathematics, optimisation, linear algebra, or numerical methods, coupled with a strong inclination towards software development. As a Quant Engineer in our optimisation Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in driving positive impacts on client portfolio risk profiles and operational costs through the application of advanced algorithms and optimisation techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement optimisation algorithms and solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Conduct research and experimentation to enhance existing algorithms and develop innovative approaches to address evolving challenges in post-trade operations
  • Analyse and interpret large datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of algorithms through rigorous testing, validation and optimisation methodologies.
  • Engage in rapid, iterative development cycles to deliver scalable and reliable solutions that meet client requirements.

What’s in it for you:

As an employer we strongly believe in individual growth and have long experience in guiding early-careers quants on the path to becoming industry experts in our fields. We believe in:

  • An innovative culture with strong focus on exploration and research, where failing fast is a virtue which drives technological and product improvements.
  • Being engineers and not theorists, finding solutions to real problems, and a focus on innovation and rethinking is the path to continuously improving algorithms.
  • Generosity and support, we succeed and fail together, always sharing knowledge and experiences to help our services and each other to grow.
  • Individual growth and perspectives spring from continuous exposure to new problems and fields, and from working on important and meaningful problems, with full support from senior team members
  • Rapid, iterative and phased delivery, backed by modern software engineering practices such as automated testing and deployment frameworks.

What we’re looking for:

Fundamental requirement:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python or Java, with a strong foundation in software development principles and practices.
  • Solid understanding of mathematical concepts and optimisation techniques, such as Linear Programming, with the ability to apply them in practical problem-solving scenarios.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a keen attention to detail and a passion for continuous learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic and diverse team environment.

At OSTTRA, we believe in fostering a culture of excellence and empowerment, where individuals are empowered to realise their full potential and make a meaningful impact on the financial system. If you are eager to embark on a rewarding journey of innovation and discovery, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of post-trade.
