Role Description In the RAMS V&V role, you are responsible for the planning, execution, and documentation of activities in the areas of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS) as well as Verification and Validation (V&V) within the rail sector. You create and maintain risk assessments, hazard analyses (such as FMEA, FTA, CCF), test concepts, and verification plans for signalling systems (e.g. CBTC, ETCS, interlocking), coordinate tests with internal and external interfaces, and systematically evaluate test results. Your daily tasks include aligning with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Project Management, maintaining technical safety documentation (including Safety Plans, Hazard Logs, and Safety Cases), and ensuring compliance with European standards (EN 50126, EN 50129, EN 50716, SIL). Furthermore, you support audits and customer presentations. This is a full-time position in a highly flexible remote-first setup (80%+ remote / work from home, location: Europe).
Qualifications
- You have sound knowledge of RAMS methodologies (e.g. FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, risk and reliability analyses) as well as practical experience in the verification and validation (V&V) of complex technical systems.
- You hold a completed technical degree (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or comparable) and ideally have experience in the rail industry.
- You bring solid knowledge of relevant European railway standards (such as EN 50126, EN 50129, EN 50716) and SIL requirements.
- You work in a structured, highly analytical, and quality-conscious manner, can precisely document complex technical topics, and maintain a clear overview even in safety-critical projects.
- You communicate clearly and respectfully, enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams, and feel confident liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, proficiency in standard office and engineering tools, and a willingness for continuous professional development complete your profile.
