We are Carbon Clean

At Carbon Clean, we're tackling one of the world's toughest challenges: decarbonising heavy industry. Our breakthrough carbon capture technology is fast, cost-effective, and designed for real-world impact. With an ambitious goal to capture 1 billion tonnes of CO₂, we're transforming high-emission sectors like steel, cement, and oil & gas — industries that account for 30% of global emissions.

In the next phase of our growth, we are seeking a driven R&D Engineer (Laboratory)

📍 Location (Navi Mumbai, Lab based 5 days a week) | 💰 Competitive

Please note this is a 6 month FTC

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of laboratory equipment that enables the development of cutting-edge CO2 capture technologies, working closely with the Research and Technology teams to deliver objectives aligned with the company's strategic goals.

Success in this role will be defined by the quality, repeatability, and safety of experimental data generated, and the pace and rigour of solvent and process development.

What does success look like:

· Consistently producing and validating high-quality data and research outputs.

· 100% compliance with scientific review, safety and technical governance processes.

Role Focus:

  • Experimental design, execution & data generation
  • Laboratory equipment operation, safety & compliance
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Research and Technology teams

  • Test and develop novel CO2 capture process technology.

Laboratory Equipment & Safety

  • Manage the safe operation of laboratory equipment and instruments and evaluate the outputs.

Analysis & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Critically assess data and literature to provide insight to the Research and technical teams when required.
  • Report technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

You are an ideal candidate if…

  • You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a relevant subject.
  • You have experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • You possess strong knowledge of mass transfer, chemical equilibria and thermodynamics.
  • You have experience with pilot plant operation and process control — desirable but not essential.
  • You have knowhow and experience in researching or developing solvent-based CO2 capture technology.
  • You can critically assess data and literature to provide insight to Research and technical teams.
  • You're an expert communicator, able to report technical information to a non-technical audience.
