Key Responsibilities
- Research, develop, evaluate, and commercialize packaging solutions that meet product, manufacturing, quality, cost, and business requirements.
- Develop packaging for new and existing products, from concept development through trial and commercialization.
- Propose suitable packaging formats, material structures, sizes, shapes, and packaging solutions based on product and business requirements.
- Develop and optimize primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging when required.
- Research packaging materials and structures, evaluate the technical performance of individual layers, and identify alternative materials to optimize cost, quality, sustainability, and supply capability.
- Develop, maintain, and update Packaging Specifications and relevant technical requirements.
- Design and conduct packaging tests to evaluate sealing performance, mechanical strength, safety, compatibility, and product protection throughout the product lifecycle.
- Coordinate with QMS, OEM partners, and packaging suppliers to conduct testing and evaluate test results.
- Evaluate the compatibility between products and packaging during manufacturing, storage, transportation, and shelf life.
- Plan and execute pilot runs and production trials, and identify critical parameters that need to be controlled.
- Work with relevant functions to investigate and resolve packaging issues arising during trial and commercial production.
- Evaluate the technical capabilities of packaging suppliers, conduct trials for new materials, and coordinate the resolution of packaging quality issues.
- Ensure packaging materials comply with relevant regulatory, food-contact safety, and technical requirements; review documents such as COA, TDS, and declarations/compliance documents.
- Collaborate with R&D Product, QMS, OEM, Purchasing, Marketing, and Suppliers throughout packaging development and commercialization projects.
- Prepare and manage technical documentation, including Packaging Specifications, Test Reports, Trial Reports, Approval Reports, artwork requirements, and other technical documents.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the R&D Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Packaging Materials, Packaging Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in packaging development from concept to commercialization, preferably within the FMCG industry.
- Solid knowledge of packaging materials, structures, and packaging technologies.
- Understanding of packaging-related regulatory requirements, including domestic and export markets.
- Experience in packaging testing, production trials, supplier evaluation, or packaging technical development is an advantage.
- Good command of technical and business English.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or 3D visualization tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and follow up on multiple tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Proactive, responsible, honest, and committed to completing tasks through to closure.
- Ability to work under pressure and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel for business when required.
