The RtR Specialist II – Close & Actuals will be responsible for executing Record-to-Report accounting activities supporting Emerson’s Brazil operations. This role will contribute to the timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, Emerson policies, and internal control requirements.
The position will partner with Business Units and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve accounting matters, maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial information, and provide high-quality accounting support. The role will also contribute to continuous improvement, standardization, and automation initiatives within the Global Business Services organization.
- Prepare and post accurate and timely manual journal entries and accounting adjustments.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations in accordance with established schedules and procedures.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly accruals in accordance with accounting policies.
- Perform account analysis and investigate variances, unusual transactions, and open accounting items.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and ensure assigned deliverables are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Partner with Business Units and other stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and ensure timely closure of open items.
- Support the monthly financial reporting process and provide accurate and timely financial information.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, Emerson accounting policies, internal controls, and SOX requirements.
- Support internal and external audit activities by providing appropriate documentation and responding to accounting inquiries.
- Develop financial analyses and provide accounting support to Business Units and management as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation to improve efficiency, quality, and service delivery.
- Participate in knowledge transfer, process documentation, and cross-training activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Ensure service levels and performance targets are consistently achieved in accordance with established SLA commitments.
You are a detail-oriented and accountable professional who can effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, global environment. You demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are comfortable working with financial data, investigating issues, and making sound decisions based on accounting principles and available information.
You build effective relationships with Business Units and cross-functional teams and communicate accounting matters clearly and professionally. You are proactive in identifying issues and opportunities, take ownership of your deliverables, and demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in General Ledger accounting, financial reporting, audit, Shared Services, or related accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- English proficiency.
- Advanced Portuguese proficiency.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in a global environment.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet established deadlines and service-level commitments.
- Experience working in a Shared Services or Global Business Services environment.
- Experience supporting Brazil or Latin America operations.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Hyperion, HFM, FCCS, or other financial reporting and consolidation tools.
- Knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting multinational organizations and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, standardization, automation, or operational excellence initiatives.
- Experience with financial reporting, consolidation, or other Record-to-Report processes in a global organization.
