Member First Mortgage is hiring a Recovery Specialist to join our expanding Default & Loss Mitigation team!

In this remote role, you’ll play a key part in supporting our Default operations by maintaining accurate reconciliations, financial records, and reports. Responsibilities:

  • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

    Manages deceased borrower processes, including verifying legal documentation, updating system records, coordinating with Compliance, and ensuring no unauthorized disclosures occur. Oversees successor-in-interest transitions and maintains audit-ready documentation.
  • Prepares files for mortgage claim submissions and provides appropriate documentation for audit purposes. Follows up on mortgage insurance claims, additional information requests, and post-foreclosure results. Prepares loss mitigation claims for filling through FHA Connection. Submits supporting documents to Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSE's) for filing of claims.
  • Responsible for managing and submitting monthly Electronic Default Reporting (EDR) data to government-sponsored entities such as USDA and Fannie Mae. Ensures accurate and timely transmission of default status updates, maintains historical submission records, and supports audit readiness by saving and verifying all EDR files.
  • Reviews and processes requests regarding state assistance programs. Ensures government agencies receive timely responses regarding assistance programs. Acts as a backup for other areas of the loss mitigation department, when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience
  • A high school education or GED.
  • Quick learner and detailed knowledge of departmental policies, practices and procedures.
  • Strong numeric aptitude, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to meet goals and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong level of computer skills and the ability to function in a windows environment utilizing Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality. Solid decision-making skills
