This position is responsible for identifying, attracting, evaluating, and recruiting qualified candidates to support CMS Corporation and its subsidiary company staffing requirements. This position manages the full-cycle recruiting process for a variety of positions, including project management, field supervision, quality control, safety, engineering, administrative, and skilled trade positions.
This position partners closely with hiring managers to understand current and anticipated workforce needs and develop effective recruiting strategies to attract qualified candidates. The position requires a strong understanding of the construction industry, construction-related positions, and the challenges associated with recruiting for project-based and geographically diverse operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle recruiting process from identification of staffing needs through candidate selection and acceptance of employment offers.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand position requirements, project staffing needs, required qualifications, and anticipated hiring timelines.
- Develop and maintain recruiting strategies and candidate pipelines for frequently hired and difficult-to-fill positions.
- Proactively source qualified candidates through job boards, professional networking platforms, industry associations, referrals, social media, recruiting events, and direct outreach.
- Identify passive candidates and develop relationships with construction professionals who may be qualified for current or future opportunities.
- Review resumes and applications to determine whether candidates meet position-specific education, experience, certification, licensing, and other qualification requirements.
- Conduct initial candidate screening interviews to evaluate qualifications, construction experience, compensation expectations, availability, geographic flexibility, and overall suitability for the position.
- Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers and maintain communication with candidates throughout the selection process.
- Assist hiring managers in evaluating candidates and provide recommendations based on qualifications and position requirements.
- Conduct reference checks and coordinate pre-employment requirements in accordance with Company policies.
- Prepare and extend employment offers in coordination with Human Resources.
- Maintain accurate and timely recruiting documentation and candidate information within the Company's applicant tracking and HR systems.
- Track recruiting activity, open positions, time-to-fill, candidate sources, offer acceptance rates, and other recruiting metrics.
- Maintain regular communication with hiring managers regarding the status of open positions and recruiting activity.
- Develop and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, technical schools, trade organizations, military transition programs, and other organizations that may provide qualified candidates.
- Participate in career fairs, industry events, recruiting events, and other outreach activities.
- Support employee referral programs and other initiatives designed to increase qualified candidate referrals.
- Assist with workforce planning by identifying potential recruiting challenges and developing candidate pipelines in advance of project awards and mobilizations.
- Maintain awareness of market conditions, compensation trends, competitor hiring activity, and availability of construction professionals in relevant geographic markets.
- Ensure recruiting and selection practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and Company policies.
- Promote a positive candidate experience and professionally represent the Company throughout the recruiting and hiring process.
- Maintain confidentiality of candidate, employee, compensation, and Company information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
