BakerHostetler is seeking an experienced Attorney Recruiting Manager to lead attorney recruiting, including partner and lateral associate hiring, across our California offices. Reporting directly to the Director of Recruiting, this role serves as a strategic partner to office and practice group leadership, supporting the firm's growth objectives.
The Attorney Recruiting Manager will serve as the primary recruiting contact for California-based partner, associate, and law school hiring while partnering with colleagues across the national recruiting team on broader recruiting initiatives and programs. This is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with attorneys, candidates, law schools, and search firms while contributing to the continued growth of the firm's California offices.
This position may be based in Los Angeles or San Francisco and follows a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day lateral recruiting activities for the California offices, including candidate engagement and outreach screening, interview management and offer development
- Partner with office and practice group leadership to identify hiring needs and develop recruiting strategies
- Advise leadership on recruiting trends, market conditions, and competitive intelligence to support informed hiring decisions
- Provide guidance, support, and day-to-day supervision of the West Coast Recruiting Coordinator,
- including assigning and prioritizing work, delivering training on recruiting processes and best practices, monitoring performance
- Support law student recruiting and summer associate program initiatives in coordination with the broader Recruiting team
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leading legal search firms, industry contacts, and law school career services
- Represent the firm at recruiting events, networking functions, and law school programs
consistently demonstrating sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Firmwide Recruiting leadership on attorney recruiting initiatives, special projects, and process improvements
- Support associate mentor programs and attorney professional development initiatives as needed
- Ability to travel to regional offices as needed
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- 7+ years of attorney recruiting experience at a law firm or legal search firm, including substantial lateral attorney recruiting; partner recruiting experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex lateral partner and associate searches and experience advising senior stakeholders
Technical Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter and other attorney sourcing and research tools and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ViGlobal or similar recruiting platforms preferred
- Deep understanding of attorney recruiting best practices, legal market trends, and talent acquisition strategies
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Excellent organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A creative, detail-oriented, and proactive mindset to solve challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use AI-enabled applications and other productivity technologies in accordance with firm policies, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements.

Compensation
The expected annual salary range for this position is $160,000-$195,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors, including but not limited to experience level, education, training, geographic location, and relevant skills.
