Job purpose
The main purpose of this job is to ensure that all our residential and off season camps are staffed to the correct ratios and staff are prepared for their roles effectively.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all campuses appropriately staffed in line with agreed teaching and programme supervision ratios.
- Ensure recruitment of all staff is in accordance with HR and Safeguarding policies and processes.
- Be the link between the operations & academic team and HR team when dealing with legal and HR issues.
- Ensure training in place to enable all campus staff to perform their roles effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure staff are aware of welfare needs of under 18 students and of their safeguarding duties and responsibilities.
- Ensure staff handbooks in place and updated annually.
- Ensure staff have appropriate resources to carry out their roles.
- Create an environment on campus where staff feel cared for and appreciated for their work.
- Oversee the interview process and scheduling of new applications, conducting senior staff interviews and others where required.
- Find new avenues for recruitment, and look for partnerships that can help access new staff members.
- Oversee the planning and organisation of staff training days and inductions.
- Participate in training days as required.
- Work with the HR and Operations department to identify training and development needs to ensure the delivery of high-quality courses and programmes.
- Implement effective communication practices to ensure staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities.
- Develop and review staff appraisal systems and ensure these are implemented in campuses.
- With the HR & finance departments oversee the payroll system to ensure an efficient service.
Sales and Operations
- Contribute to the development of new programmes.
- Assist in agency visits, fam trips, and presentations.
- Visit campuses to check on overall management and student/group leader satisfaction.
- Support the wider Juniors team in seasonal and non-seasonal operations.
Person Specifications
Statutory requirements
- Eligibility to live and work in in the UK
- Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in any discipline
- CELTA. Trinity TESOL and / or QTS in English or a Modern Foreign Language with ELT subsidiary
- DELTA or Trinity Dip. TESOL (Desirable)
- CELTYL or YL Extension (Desirable)
Experience and knowledge
- Experience of establishing and maintaining effective policies and processes
- Experience with managing a team and working with staff at all levels
- Good working knowledge of HR practices
- Teaching experience with junior learners across a variety of levels
- Experience of working in a junior residential language school setting or equivalent (Desirable)
- Desire to work within a legal/HR role (Desirable)
- Experience of multi-site management (Desirable)
Skills and abilities
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload
- An excellent eye for detail and the ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Ability to prioritise workload, work to deadlines and under pressure
- A sound knowledge of Microsoft office with good IT skill
- Ability to function and communicate in a multicultural environment (Desirable)
- Experience of delivering presentations confidently and effectively (Desirable)
