The BRIDGES Returning Citizens Center (BRCC) engages returning citizens to assist them in the development of their employment skills to succeed outside of prison or a criminal record. The Reentry Specialist provides one-on-one coaching and case management to formerly incarcerated individuals trying to attain employment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular meetings with individual clients to develop an understanding of strengths, interests, and challenges.
  • Provide feedback and an objective perspective as customer’s evaluate their options or make career transitions
  • Maintain knowledge of state of the art career assessments; administer and interpret as appropriate.
  • Responsible for developing an individual strengths and needs analysis and employment plan including goal setting, with a focus on reentry and recovery needs, as appropriate
  • Support customers through transitions and facilitate decision making and goal setting including referrals to partners, job training opportunities, and Individual Training Account (ITA) processes.
  • Research labor market and workplace trends, including employer use of background checks and other practices that impact the ability of Returning Citizens to attain employment.
  • Provide a range of employment services, including but not limited to, resume review and development services, cover letter review and development services, job search strategies, and career transition workshops.
  • Input relevant customer data appropriately and timely by following all MOSES entry policies.
  • Utilize MOSES reports appropriately and timely.
  • Maintain 30 day contact with a large caseload of customers by telephone, email, and personal appointments.
  • Inform customers of additional career center services.
  • Follow up on previous services delivered, and determine the success of said services.
  • Update customer information and provide additional employment services as needed.
  • Maintain contact with a significant caseload of customers via telephone, email, and/or other communication methods.
  • Act as the main point of contact with partner organizations in order to coordinate services to shared clients.
  • Handle high stress situations while demonstrating sound decision making process.
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with Career Center partners.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A minimum of three years of customer service or relevant experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of experience in work force development and reentry services required.
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, public administration, business management or related field preferred but not required.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a career center, providing services to businesses, or other related experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience with WIOA, TRADE, RESEA, (and other Career Center Programs) regulations, programs, guidelines and administrative requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong public speaking/presentations skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficient with MS office.
  • Ability to document and maintain records in database as well as paper files accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Bilingual speaker, Spanish preferred
Expected Salary: $56911.40 USD ($31.27/hour). Salary scales are set according to an explicit compensation policy and relevant market data. Due to funding restrictions and our strong focus on internal parity, this salary is thoughtfully aligned with the duties expected for this role, and offers are firm.
