Regional Community Behaviourist

Team: Regional Veterinary & Welfare

Location: Remotely, based in East of England region

Work pattern: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Salary: Up to £42,182.64 per year

Contract: Permanent

Whilst this role will be home-based, the successful candidate must be based in (or willing to relocate to) the East of England area that stretches from Tyneside down to Bedfordshire and travel is necessary for the execution of the post holder’s duties (see map, areas 1-6 in the East).

Responsibilities of our Regional Community Behaviourist:

• Provide behaviour advice to centres and branches, designing behaviour modifications plans for behaviour cases within the region
• Work with the rest of the Behaviour team and Learning and Development team to deliver blended learning training programmes on feline behaviour for CP staff and volunteers across the UK to upskill their knowledge and expertise
• Work alongside the rest of the Cat Welfare Department on all aspects of behaviour and other relevant areas of the department’s activities, to liaise with the Community Operations Department on husbandry and with other departments where necessary
• Represent and promote Cats Protection’s behaviour strategy nationally and occasionally internationally, at shows and events, conferences and other meetings as required
• Raise awareness of feline behavioural issues regionally via PR and the media and to act as a spokesperson for the charity
  
  

About the Community Veterinary and Welfare team:

• The wider team includes the Community Veterinary team, Cat Welfare team, and Behaviour team, who work closely together to support cat cases, particularly complex cases with medical, welfare and behavioural elements.
  
  

What we’re looking for in our Regional Community Behaviourist:

• Experience of working professionally with cats and managing behaviour cases
• Experience of training others and producing educational materials
• Experience in the shelter/rescue environment
• Experience of working with volunteers
• Ability to persuade, convince and influence others using up to date knowledge and evidence to create change
• Degree in animal behaviour or equivalent professional qualification
• Valid UK driving license
