We seek a candidate with strong hotel industry experience and comprehensive background in the Human Resources discipline to join our corporate team as a Regional Director of People & Culture. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven, motivated HR professional to further his/her career, while growing with the company.

The Regional Director of People & Culture will provide guidance, direction, and support to multiple full and select service, and independent boutique hotels nationwide. The responsibilities include providing counsel and hands-on support within areas of the HR discipline such as employee relations, training, recruitment, policies and procedures, and wage and benefits.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct property visits, provide advice and counsel, and perform company sanctioned HR audits on a predetermined schedule based on the preparation, training and guidance as provided by the Regional HRD to the property in maintaining and installing standard HR policies and practices.
  • Onboard all new HR Representatives
  • Participate in hotel acquisition and divestiture activities.
  • In close partnership with the hotel GMs and AGMs, ensure the efficient and effective management of employee relations issues, including warranted investigations and proper documentation, in areas such as:

o Progressive Discipline & Terminations

o Performance Management, Evaluation & Merit Increase Process o Reduction In Force o Union Avoidance Strategieso Sexual Harassmento Discrimination Based on Title VII of the Civil Rights Act o Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Reasonable Accommodation o Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) o Excessive Worker’s Compensation Claims above a predetermined threshold, and Strategies (i.e. Return to Work) o OSHA / Safety o Drug-Free Workplace / Reasonable Suspicion o SOPs / Policies / Employee Handbook Interpretation o Conflict Resolution o Independent Contractors and Temporary Staffing vs. Regular Employees o Employee and Confidential Files o Recognition and Awards
  • Conduct and/or provide guidance on company required training-related activities.
  • Provide support and guidance on Wage and Benefits Activities such as Annual Open Enrollment and Wage Data subscription.
  • Work with properties to ensure accurate and timely enrollment of employees in health benefits, as well as serve as a resource for potential benefits related questions.
  • Provide support, guidance, and direction on the Annual Associate Opinion Survey (AOS) and the corresponding facilitation of reporting results, and online development and execution of Action Plans for improvement.
  • Obtain Predictive Index (PI) certification under SSH to be able to engage in the analysis and interpretation of PI as warranted in the Recruitment and Hiring process of managers and select front-facing positions.
  • Conduct Hotline Call investigations.
  • Serve as a resource with various HR-vendor relationships.
  • Serve as a second in-house expert in the company’s Human Capital Management / HRIS – Paylocity.
  • Perform all Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements for the company.
  • Assist in working with 401(k) requirements through a Third-Party Administrator.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in effective recruitment activities and strategies
  • Participate in company-wide special projects and program development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

A competitive base salary and bonus structure commensurate with experience will be offered.

Requirements

Qualifications and Background

  • 3+ years of progressive human resources management and leadership experience with at least 3 years of Human Resources Director experience at a branded property such as Marriott, Hilton, IHG or Starwood is required.
  • 1+ years of multi-property (3 or more) / area / cluster HR experience required.
  • Experience with Acquisitions & Divestitures is preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills required to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Exceptional presentation skills; polished and persuasive communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to quickly establish trust and credibility with management and associates at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in a multitude of situations, including crisis management.
  • Ability to solve problems with well thought out solutions, while considering all options, information, and variables in a relatively short window of time.
  • Ability to train constituents in various HR and Management topics such as Preventing Discrimination & Harassment in the Workplace, Bloodborne Pathogens, HR Rep Onboarding.
  • Demonstrated HR knowledge and upkeep of relevant employment related laws and practices, benefits – medical, dental vision, life, short term disability, long term disability, ACA – Affordable Care Act, 401(k), OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, FMLA, etc.
  • College Degree in related field or equivalent HR training and experience required.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-SCP/SHRM-CP Certified preferred.
  • Software skills required such as Microsoft Office Suite and Human Capital Management / HRIS such as Paylocity, ADP, UKG, etc.
  • Up to 50% travel will be required.
