Position Information
The Regional Technical Manager (RTM) is responsible for providing technical and service support to an assigned dealer network across all Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. (YMCA) product lines.
Serve as a key liaison between dealers and YMCA, helping improve technical capability, service operations, and customer satisfaction.
Partner with dealers and internal teams to strengthen dealer performance, technician development, Genuine Parts, Accessories, and Yamalube growth, and overall business objectives.

The Regional Technical Manager (RTM) is responsible for providing technical and service support to an assigned dealer network across all Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. (YMCA) product lines.
Serve as a key liaison between dealers and YMCA, helping improve technical capability, service operations, and customer satisfaction.
Partner with dealers and internal teams to strengthen dealer performance, technician development, Genuine Parts, Accessories, and Yamalube growth, and overall business objectives.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Provide remote and on-site technical support for complex diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Coach dealer technicians to improve technical skills and service quality.
- Investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
- Identify trends and opportunities to improve dealer service performance.
- Coach and mentor dealers to strengthen service operations and technical capabilities.
- Support dealers with complex technical issues and service quality improvements.
- Recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Promote service best practices and continuous improvement.
- Encourage participation in training and certification programs.
- Support dealers in achieving P360 and Elite performance standards.
- Promote service marketing initiatives to improve customer retention and growth.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of dealer contacts, technical support, and field visits.
- Submit weekly and monthly reports outlining activities, key issues, challenges, and priorities.
- Identify dealer trends, recurring technical concerns, training needs, and improvement opportunities.
- Escalate significant dealer, product, or business concerns to management.
- Ensure all reporting is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Support business reviews with reports, presentations, and performance updates.
- Complete administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with Warranty to align and support PWA decision-making.
- Support the Warranty team with complex claims and technical questions.
- Partner with Warranty to achieve key performance and service targets.
- Support fair, consistent, and timely warranty claim decisions.
- Monitor dealer warranty performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
- Partner with District Sales and Business Relationship Managers to improve dealer performance and develop action plans.
- Support Dealer Academy training, reporting, and dealer engagement initiatives.
- Conduct technical research and prepare product and market information reports (MIRs) for the Technical Specialists.
- Participate in product testing, inspections, evaluations, and modifications.
- Support head office service projects and operational priorities.
- Work with dealers and field teams to support Parts, Accessories, and Yamalube sales objectives.
- Provide technical support for Regulatory Affairs cases, including representation in legal proceedings when required.
- Support Special Markets partners with technical assistance as needed.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and special assignments.
- Represent YMCA and provide technical and product support at events, shows, training clinics, and media activities.
- Degree/Diploma:
- Degree/Diploma or technical designation
- 5+ years technical marine, motorsport & PTV retail/wholesale experience
- Valid auto driver’s license.
- M Class license (motorcycle license) (not mandatory)
- PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operators Card)
- Program of Study: Technical designation
- Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience
- Type of Experience: Service/Related Field/Dealership operations
- Common technician skills – Correct use of hand and power tools, safe workshop practises.
- Excellent understanding of marine, motorsport & PTV technology and repair, Yamaha products preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Ability to influence others and gain consensus.
- Ability to manage time and work with minimal supervision while meeting objectives
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities, solve problems, and handling multiple tasks
- Ability to clearly communicate goals and objectives.
- Ability to work co-operatively within a team environment.
- Computer skills required; Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, etc.
- National travel (within Canada): 40%+
- International travel: 10%-30%
- Overtime sometimes required
