This role is within the Compliance team, supporting our Quality and Commercial teams in the assessment of products for our trading activity as per key responsibilities listed below. The successful candidate will drive compliance by engaging stakeholders, translating complex regulations into practical guidance, and advising risk‑based decisions in close collaboration with the operations teams (Quality, Logistics and Marketing) and the Commercial organisation at large. They will act as subject matter expert and key liaison on all matters related to regulatory affairs and product compliance. They will also drive continuous improvements in their area of responsibility through active regulatory change monitoring, revision of SOPs and systems of work, and training of relevant internal stakeholders. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will advise and support our Product Managers and Operations teams with in-depth review of regulatory matters for food, feed, personal care and applications, for products purchased and supplied by Prinova Europe Ltd worldwide: Evaluate regulatory suitability, in the intended country & market of sale, for all new product approvals; Set up new product codes in our ERP system (FBSS); Document and communicate compliance assessments for those new products to internal stakeholders; Assessment will include, but is not limited to allergens, health claims, REACH, Novel food, Food Law and labelling, Feed laws and labelling, Residues and Contaminants, Natural status etc, Work with internal and external stakeholders to maintain visibility of current and future regulation changes; Proactively assess potential business impacts & communicate updates to internal & external stakeholders; Monitor product and market restrictions throughout the product lifecycle. Advise the quality team on risks identified during regulatory assessment of new products to support HACCP/TACCP/VACCP process in line with BRC and FAMI-QS certification schemes; Help obtain and maintain product & business licenses as appropriate; ensure regulatory compliance with food and feed safety, quality and food defence as it relates to UK, EU and GFSI (BRC) requirements, Organic, Halal, FAMI QS and Kosher; coordinate with local authorities as appropriate. Provide regulatory review of product compliance when in-depth analysis/review is needed for the quality department. Support customer queries and questionnaires on regulatory matters. E.g: Novel food status, specific application status, claims, labelling, etc. Perform periodic horizon scan activities to drive compliance and food/feed safety in our organisation; Monitor EFSA positions and other industry opinions on food safety risks which may impact our portfolio or drive regulatory changes. Provide support to the commercial and marketing team to verify regulatory compliance of product offers and marketing materials. Assist, as required, in the management of customer complaints, crises and incidents as part of the Prinova Europe CAP team. Issue position statements as relevant for internal and external communications As part of their role, the Regulatory Affairs Specialist will perform a business-critical advisory role to the business as a subject matter expert: Develop procedures and work instructions with quality, supply chain & logistics teams to ensure they can execute appropriate checks in their day-to-day activities. Develop and roll out appropriate training across the organisation as needed. Drive knowledge sharing on all compliance topics, collaborating with the US & China teams as needed. Support internal and external compliance processes and audits. Develop improvement plans to address gaps identified during audits and verification processes. Support operational projects to deliver compliance for the business on regulatory matters. Maintain an active network of external support through our trade associations and consulting partners. Does this sound like you? The candidate will have 5-10 years of technical and/or regulatory experience in food, feed or pharmaceuticals/supplement industries. Strong knowledge of UK and EU regulations pertaining to foodstuffs. Strong understanding of Novel Food regulations in the UK/EU and associated processes and controls. Desirable - knowledge of UK and EU regulations on feed additives, feed materials, personal care or food supplements. Desirable – experience working with any of the following non-EU / non-UK markets: Turkey, Mexico, Australia & New Zealand, Brazil, South Africa. Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements into operational processes. Pre-emptive approach to compliance, continuous improvement and issue resolution Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams). Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders Ability to identify problems quickly and identify systematic solutions Ability to provide guidance and training to non-expert stakeholders – ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into plain English tasks Strong organisational skills and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and support operational demands. Strong interpersonal skills, build trusted relationships quickly Self-motivated, flexible and able to adapt to changes in circumstances and difficult and challenging situations. Self-Starter, proactive and confident working independently or in cross-functional teams. Good business acumen, including excellent written and verbal communication skills Interested?
