This position independently executes assigned, well-defined regulatory activities and provides hands-on technical support for LATAM food ingredients. The Specialist owns the accuracy, documentation, and timely follow-through of routine deliverables, working within established procedures and precedents, and seeks guidance from senior colleagues for novel, ambiguous, cross-market, or higher-risk matters.
The Role & Your Impact
Operating in a cross-functional and collaborative environment, this role combines strong regulatory expertise with practical guidance for food and ingredient products across LATAM markets. The Specialist plays a key role in ensuring compliance, translating complex regulations into actionable business insights, and maintaining robust regulatory data and documentation to support regional operations.
Your Key Responsibilities in this role
- Turn LATAM food and ingredient regulations into clear, practical guidance for assigned products, taking ownership of routine interpretations with support for new or unclear requirements;
- Be a trusted partner for routine regulatory questions from intake to resolution, reviewing product, process, labeling, and claims information while raising higher-risk topics early;
- Bring LATAM dossiers and submissions together for assigned products by reviewing documents, closing information gaps, and supporting responses to authority questions with senior review for non-routine cases;
- Move changes forward by assessing regulatory impact across products, formulations, suppliers, manufacturing, processes, specifications, and labeling, recommending practical actions for routine cases;
- Keep regulatory records, trackers, and product data reliable and ready to use, staying ahead of deadlines, checking data quality, and flagging issues early;
- Utilize strong computer and IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, to manage documentation and tracking systems;
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Sales & Business teams, Technical Service / Application / Customer Solutions, R&D / Innovation / PMT, Quality Assurance / Food Safety, Operations / Manufacturing, Supply Chain / Procurement, Marketing / Communications, and Legal / Compliance.
What you'll need to be successful in this role
- Master's degree (preferred) or Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, or related Natural Sciences;
- Advanced or fluent proficiency in English;
- Hands-on Regulatory Affairs experience within the food industry (or related regulated industry), supporting LATAM regulatory deliverables;
- Strong understanding of ingredient compliance and practical experience with LATAM regulatory pathways, including data requirements and gap assessments;
- Working knowledge of labeling and claims for food and ingredients, with the ability to translate requirements into clear business guidance;
- Experience supporting innovation and product change projects, including regulatory risk assessment and launch readiness;
- Comfort interacting with government authorities and exposure to regulatory intelligence and internal compliance tools;
- Cross-cultural awareness and experience working in a global environment.
