Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $185,000.00 Annually Farmer Mac is looking to hire a driven, analytical, and personable individual with five (5) or more years of experience in leveraged finance, commercial banking, corporate banking, infrastructure finance, project finance, credit analysis, or related lending disciplines, for the position of Relationship Manager - Power & Utilities. Position Summary Farmer Mac is seeking a collaborative, curious, analytical, and relationship-oriented professional to join its Infrastructure Finance team as a Relationship Manager – Power & Utilities. The successful candidate will manage key clients and referral relationships, evaluate financing opportunities, and lead transactions through the complete lifecycle from sourcing and screening through underwriting, approval, closing, and portfolio management. The Relationship Manager will serve as a deal leader and primary point of contact for assigned relationships, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to assess, approve and close debt financing transactions for electric generation, transmission and distribution borrowers delivering electricity to rural America. The role requires a professional who combines strong credit and financial analysis capabilities with business development skills, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a team-first mindset. This position is ideal for candidates with leveraged finance, commercial banking, corporate banking, infrastructure finance, or credit underwriting experience. Power & Utilities experience is preferred; however, analytical capability, curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to do what it takes to successfully execute transactions are considered most important. Who You Will Work With The Relationship Manager will be an integral part of the Infrastructure Finance team, reporting directly to the Senior Managing Director of Infrastructure Finance and will have regular ongoing interactions with the Senior Relationship Manager - Power & Utilities, Credit Analysts, and Credit Manager. Additionally, the Relationship Manager will work with Underwriters, Capital Markets, Transaction Management, and internal and external advisors and legal counsel. The position will also have a high degree of interaction with Farmer Mac Credit Approval Committee, including the Chief Credit Officer. The position is remote with preference for candidates in Washington, D.C., Denver, CO, and Los Angeles, CA metro areas. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Serve as the primary relationship manager and day-to-day contact for assigned customers and referral partners. Source, evaluate, and maintain a pipeline of financing opportunities aligned with Farmer Mac’s strategic objectives. Lead transactions through sourcing, screening, due diligence, underwriting, approval, documentation, closing, funding, and ongoing portfolio management. Conduct preliminary credit assessments and collaborate with Underwriting and Credit teams on detailed analysis and approval memoranda. Present financing opportunities and recommendations to management and credit approval committees. Manage key relationships and deal sources within the Power & Utilities sector. Coordinate with Legal, Treasury, Loan Operations, Transaction Management, Enterprise Risk, consultants, and external advisors to ensure successful execution and closing. Monitor portfolio performance, covenant compliance, risk ratings, and borrower financial performance. Represent Farmer Mac at industry conferences, lender meetings, and client visits. Identify process improvements and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture. Desired Skills and Qualifications Demonstrated experience evaluating, underwriting, and executing financing transactions. Strong financial statement analysis, cash flow lending, credit underwriting, and risk assessment skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple transactions simultaneously. Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to drive transactions to completion. Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and strong work ethic. Intellectual curiosity, analytical rigor, and willingness to learn new industries, structures, and markets. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Five (5) or more years of relevant experience in leveraged finance, commercial banking, corporate banking, infrastructure finance, project finance, credit analysis, or related lending disciplines.
