About Company
TaloTrace is an AI-powered QA platform that autonomously tests web and mobile applications, discovers issues, and delivers evidence-backed findings your engineering team can act on immediately.
Unlike traditional automation tools that stop at pass or fail, TaloTrace provides a complete Trace for every issue: recorded video, logs, reproduction steps, severity, and supporting evidence.
Release QA Tester
Be the practical quality checkpoint before TaloTrace reaches users.
Vietnam | Full-time | Remote
About the Role
We are looking for a highly disciplined Release QA Tester responsible for validating that TaloTrace is ready to be released. This role is strongly hands-on. You will execute structured release validation, perform risk-based regression and exploratory testing, verify bug fixes, test important AI-enabled workflows and communicate release risk clearly.
The expectation is not that you simply follow a checklist. You should understand what the feature is meant to achieve, look for realistic failure modes and provide evidence that helps the team make a release decision.
What You Will Own
- Execute release validation: Test release candidates against defined acceptance criteria and validate core workflows, new features, fixes, integrations, permissions, data behavior, error handling and relevant AI workflows.
- Run risk-based regression testing: Focus regression effort on recently changed functionality, high-value user workflows, unstable areas, dependency changes and historically important production failures.
- Perform exploratory testing: Go beyond scripted test cases using unusual inputs, boundary conditions, incomplete information, unexpected sequences, invalid actions and realistic user behavior.
- Verify bug fixes thoroughly: Reproduce the original defect, validate the fix, test related scenarios and check for regressions. Do not treat a changed UI or passing happy path as proof that a defect is truly resolved.
- Test AI-enabled product behavior: Look for unexpected output, obvious hallucination, inconsistent behavior, instruction-following problems, broken workflows and meaningful edge cases. Feed useful observations back into the AI Evaluation and benchmark process.
- Validate production-like environments: Check configuration, integrations, permissions, data, dependencies, feature flags, user roles and other release-specific conditions that can cause issues even when code-level tests pass.
- Write reproducible defects: Record environment, preconditions, steps, expected behavior, actual behavior, severity, evidence and other details needed for another person to reproduce and investigate the issue.
- Provide an honest release assessment: Communicate what passed, what failed, what remains untested, known issues, elevated risks and your recommendation. The goal is useful release information, not a symbolic “QA passed”.
- Strengthen regression protection: When a significant defect is found, recommend how it should be permanently protected against through an added regression case, benchmark case or automated test.
- Improve testing processes: Suggest better test cases, test data, environment practices, regression coverage and automation opportunities as you learn where the current process is weak.
What Your Day-to-Day Work Can Look Like
- During a release cycle: Understand the scope of the release, identify risk areas, prepare the required test coverage and coordinate with Engineering and the QA Lead.
- During execution: Test systematically, investigate suspicious results, capture useful evidence and escalate blockers early.
- When defects are fixed: Retest independently and validate adjacent scenarios rather than only confirming the exact reported symptom is gone.
- Before sign-off: Summarize the evidence, remaining gaps and known risks so the release decision is explicit and informed.
What We're Looking For
- Strong manual testing skills and practical experience testing web or software products.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to reproduce, investigate and communicate bugs clearly.
- Ability to perform exploratory testing in addition to executing structured test cases.
- Good understanding of severity, priority, regression risk and release readiness.
- Strong ownership, reliability and willingness to learn the technical behavior of the product.
Strongly Preferred
- API testing and tools such as Postman.
- SQL, browser developer tools, basic scripting or Git.
- Basic understanding of automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience testing AI-enabled or data-heavy SaaS products.
What Great Looks Like
You do not simply ask, “Does it work?” You ask, “Under what conditions does it work, when does it fail, what could a real user do that we have not considered, and what evidence do we have before we release it?” You are comfortable surfacing uncomfortable findings when the evidence says a release is risky.
How Success Is Measured
- Critical release defects are caught before production whenever reasonably detectable through QA.
- Release testing is consistent and risk-based rather than dependent on memory or individual habits.
- Defects are reproducible and well documented, allowing Engineering to act quickly.
- Exploratory testing continues to uncover meaningful edge cases that scripted tests miss.
- Recurring failures become permanent regression protection and production escapes decrease over time.
Why TaloTrace
TaloTrace is building a quality function where software testing, AI evaluation, benchmark data and release discipline reinforce one another. You will have the opportunity to help shape these systems early, work closely with Engineering and Product, and build quality practices that scale with the product. This is a chance to do substantive quality work rather than simply execute a fixed checklist.
Application
When applying, please share a brief introduction, your relevant experience, and examples of work that demonstrate how you approach quality, testing, evaluation, automation or data discipline. Practical evidence of how you have found, measured, prevented or learned from failures is especially valuable. Please be specific about what you personally owned or built.
