Remote | Altium Designer Specialist — $90–$175/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Altium Designer professionals with strong hands-on expertise in PCB design, schematic development, component placement, routing, design validation, and technical workflow documentation to contribute to an advanced AI training and workflow-evaluation project.

Selected professionals will complete realistic PCB-design workflows within Altium Designer, document technical steps and design decisions, create evaluation prompts and rubrics, and review outputs for accuracy. The role is suited to practitioners who can independently navigate professional PCB-design workflows and clearly explain the reasoning behind their design choices.

Key Responsibilities

Schematic Design & Development

• Complete assigned schematic-design workflows within Altium Designer
• Create and edit electrical schematics according to provided instructions
• Review schematic structure, connectivity, and component relationships
• Apply practical PCB-design judgement throughout assigned tasks
• Maintain accuracy and consistency across schematic-development workflows

PCB Layout & Component Placement

• Create and modify PCB layouts within Altium Designer
• Position components according to design and workflow requirements
• Apply appropriate placement strategies for clarity and manufacturability
• Review board organisation and component relationships
• Evaluate layout choices against practical PCB-design considerations

Routing & Design Validation

• Complete routing tasks using appropriate Altium Designer tools
• Review traces, connectivity, and layout quality
• Validate PCB designs and schematics against project requirements
• Identify design issues, inconsistencies, or incomplete workflow steps
• Apply practical technical judgement during review and validation activities

Workflow Recording & Documentation

• Record the screen while completing assigned Altium Designer workflows
• Clearly demonstrate each technical step taken during task execution
• Document workflow steps in a clear and reproducible format
• Explain tools, features, and design decisions used throughout the process
• Produce documentation that supports consistent technical review

Prompt, Rubric & Quality Evaluation

• Create realistic prompts based on completed PCB-design workflows
• Develop detailed rubrics for assessing task quality and correctness
• Review outputs for accuracy and alignment with project guidelines
• Identify incomplete, incorrect, or inconsistent design results
• Maintain reliable quality while working independently in a remote environment

Ideal Profile

• Strong hands-on experience using Altium Designer
• Practical experience in professional, project-based, or comparable PCB-design environments
• Strong understanding of schematic design and PCB layout
• Experience with component placement and routing workflows
• Familiarity with PCB validation and design-review processes
• Comfortable creating, editing, reviewing, and validating PCB designs independently
• Current access to Altium Designer
• Comfortable recording and sharing screen-based workflow demonstrations
• Strong attention to detail across technical design tasks
• Ability to clearly explain Altium Designer tools, features, and design decisions
• Strong written technical communication skills
• Experience documenting engineering or PCB-design workflows is beneficial
• Prior human-data experience such as annotation, labelling, RLHF, AI-response evaluation, or model evaluation is advantageous
• Ability to work independently while following detailed project instructions
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

Engagement Details

• Independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote
• Compensation: $90–$175/hour
• Work will involve Altium Designer workflows, schematic design, PCB layout, component placement, routing, and design validation
• Screen recording is required while completing assigned workflows
• Assignments may include creation and editing of schematics and PCB designs, workflow documentation, prompt development, rubric creation, and technical output review
• Strong practical familiarity with Altium Designer is central to this engagement
• Current access to Altium Designer is preferred for independent completion of project tasks
• Project scope, PCB-design workflows, technical scenarios, and quality standards may evolve depending on project needs
• Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, engineering organisation, institution, or other third party
