Remote | Biologist — $70–$90/hour
24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Biologists with strong expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, CRISPR, wet-lab methods, cloning, genotyping, PCR-based assays, sequence design, and experimental workflow development to contribute to an advanced AI training and biological-science evaluation project.
Selected professionals will design and review molecular-biology workflows, evaluate genetic-engineering experiments, analyse biological data and cellular processes, and help translate complex experimental information into structured formats for AI training. The work requires strong hands-on laboratory experience, scientific rigour, and clear written and verbal communication. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
CRISPR & Gene Editing
- Design and optimise CRISPR-based gene-editing experiments
- Evaluate editing strategies for technical feasibility
- Review guide design, targeting logic, and validation approaches
- Assess experimental outcomes for consistency with intended modifications
- Identify potential weaknesses or failure points in editing workflows
Cloning & Construct Development
- Develop cloning strategies for novel constructs
- Support generation of engineered cell lines
- Evaluate vector design and construct architecture
- Review cloning workflows for efficiency and reproducibility
- Identify technical issues affecting downstream validation
Genotyping & PCR-Based Validation
- Perform or review genotyping strategies
- Analyse PCR-based assays used to validate genetic modifications
- Evaluate assay design, controls, and interpretation
- Review sequence-based confirmation approaches
- Identify inconsistent or unsupported conclusions from validation data
Sequence Design & Screening
- Design synthetic DNA and RNA sequences
- Develop molecular screening strategies
- Support high-throughput screening logic
- Evaluate sequence design for experimental suitability
- Review screening workflows for accuracy and robustness
Molecular & Cell Biology Analysis
- Apply molecular-biology techniques to complex experimental questions
- Analyse cellular organisation and organelle function
- Evaluate relationships between molecular changes and cellular outcomes
- Review biological reasoning for scientific accuracy
- Interpret experimental results within appropriate cellular context
Wet-Lab Experimental Design
- Design and optimise laboratory workflows
- Define appropriate experimental controls
- Evaluate reproducibility and sources of variability
- Identify practical improvements to protocols
- Apply strong laboratory judgement to experimental troubleshooting
Scientific Data & AI Training Support
- Translate experimental data into structured formats for AI training
- Review AI-generated biological content for scientific accuracy
- Identify errors, oversimplifications, or unsupported interpretations
- Contribute high-quality domain input to training and evaluation datasets
- Support development of biologically rigorous annotation and review workflows
Documentation & Collaboration
- Document experimental procedures and results clearly
- Maintain strong standards of scientific reproducibility
- Communicate findings in written and verbal formats
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary and remote teams
- Support knowledge transfer through precise technical documentation
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related discipline
- Strong expertise in CRISPR and gene-editing workflows
- Extensive hands-on wet-lab experience
- Demonstrated experience with cloning and construct development
- Strong genotyping and PCR-based assay experience
- Familiarity with sequence design and molecular screening strategies
- Strong understanding of molecular and cellular biology
- Ability to analyse molecule, organelle, and cellular functions
- Strong commitment to data accuracy and experimental rigour
- Experience optimising laboratory workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to scientific detail
- Self-driven and collaborative working style
- Experience contributing to high-impact research projects is valuable
- Familiarity with rubric development, AI evaluation, or data annotation is advantageous
- Experience designing datasets or protocols for AI training or human-review workflows is beneficial

- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
Engagement Details
- Independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Compensation: $70–$90/hour
- Work will involve CRISPR, gene editing, cloning, genotyping, PCR assays, sequence design, molecular screening, cell biology, wet-lab experimental design, and AI-generated scientific-content evaluation
- Strong hands-on molecular-biology and laboratory experience is central to this engagement
- Assignments may involve experimental protocols, gene-editing scenarios, cellular and molecular datasets, screening workflows, and structured biological evaluation tasks
- Project scope, workload, biological topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
