Remote | Cantonese Language Evaluator — $30–$40/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for native Cantonese speakers with strong linguistic judgement, communication skills, and attention to detail to contribute to an advanced AI training project focused on Cantonese language evaluation.

Selected professionals will assess written and spoken Cantonese, review AI-generated language outputs, complete structured annotation and labelling tasks, and provide detailed feedback on linguistic accuracy, fluency, contextual appropriateness, and overall quality. The work requires native-level Cantonese proficiency and consistent application of language evaluation standards. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Cantonese Language Evaluation

• Assess Cantonese text and speech data for linguistic accuracy, fluency, and contextual appropriateness
• Review written and spoken language samples using structured evaluation criteria
• Identify grammatical, lexical, contextual, or stylistic issues within Cantonese content
• Apply native-level linguistic judgement across varied language samples
• Maintain consistent quality standards across repeated evaluation tasks

AI Output Review & Quality Assessment

• Evaluate AI-generated Cantonese outputs for accuracy, naturalness, and relevance
• Identify errors, ambiguities, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement
• Determine whether generated responses appropriately reflect the intended meaning and context
• Provide detailed feedback explaining linguistic weaknesses or quality concerns
• Escalate complex or uncertain language cases when additional review is required

Annotation, Labelling & Data Review

• Participate in structured data annotation, labelling, and categorisation assignments
• Apply project-specific guidelines consistently across language datasets
• Review text and speech samples carefully before submitting evaluations
• Maintain high attention to detail throughout repetitive assessment workflows
• Ensure completed work is accurate, complete, and suitable for language-model development

Documentation & Project Collaboration

• Document linguistic insights, recurring issues, and recommendations clearly
• Collaborate with project leads to clarify task requirements and evaluation criteria
• Support ad hoc linguistic quality reviews as project priorities evolve
• Adapt quickly to new tools, guidelines, and language-evaluation workflows
• Manage assignments independently while maintaining agreed quality and delivery standards

Ideal Profile

• Native proficiency in Cantonese with strong command of written and spoken forms
• Experience in language evaluation, translation, linguistic annotation, or related language-focused work
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to linguistic detail, nuance, and contextual meaning
• Ability to apply objective and consistent evaluation criteria across diverse language samples
• Familiarity with content moderation, transcription, or quality-assessment workflows is advantageous
• Comfortable using online platforms and digital evaluation tools
• Strong analytical skills when assessing ambiguous or context-dependent language
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet project deliverables
• No prior experience in AI research or model training is required
