Remote | Chemistry Specialist — $70–$90/hour

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Chemistry professionals with strong expertise in wet-lab methods, chemical reactions, experimental design, analytical chemistry, scientific documentation, and laboratory problem solving to contribute to an advanced AI training and scientific-evaluation project.

Selected professionals will analyse and design chemistry experiments, review experimental outcomes, document methodologies and findings, and provide rigorous scientific feedback that supports the development of next-generation AI systems. The work requires strong hands-on laboratory experience, critical thinking, and the ability to explain complex chemistry concepts clearly to both technical and non-specialist audiences. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Chemical Analysis & Experimental Work

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses
• Design experimental workflows supporting research, product development, quality control, or process optimisation
• Evaluate chemical behaviour under different experimental conditions
• Interpret experimental data and identify meaningful trends
• Apply sound scientific judgement to laboratory-based problems

Chemical Reactions & Synthesis

• Design and interpret experiments involving chemical reactions
• Evaluate reaction conditions, mechanisms, and expected outcomes
• Analyse synthetic approaches and potential optimisation opportunities
• Identify inconsistencies or unexpected behaviour in reaction results
• Apply strong understanding of chemical principles to complex experimental scenarios

Wet-Lab Methods

• Apply practical expertise in wet-lab techniques
• Evaluate laboratory procedures for scientific validity and reproducibility
• Review experimental setup, controls, measurements, and instrumentation
• Identify potential sources of experimental error or contamination
• Recommend improvements to laboratory workflows

Analytical Chemistry & Separation Techniques

• Evaluate analytical methods and resulting datasets
• Review separation techniques used in experimental workflows
• Assess whether selected analytical approaches are appropriate for the scientific question
• Interpret results from laboratory instrumentation
• Identify limitations or uncertainty in analytical conclusions

Experimental Design & Optimisation

• Design robust and reproducible experiments
• Define relevant controls and experimental variables
• Critically evaluate experimental outcomes
• Recommend improvements or alternative investigative approaches
• Apply iterative problem-solving to research and process-development challenges

Scientific Documentation & Reproducibility

• Document laboratory methods, assumptions, data, and findings clearly
• Ensure experimental descriptions support reproducibility
• Review documentation for completeness and scientific accuracy
• Maintain clear records of experimental reasoning and conclusions
• Communicate methodological limitations where appropriate

Quality, Safety & Laboratory Standards

• Apply recognised laboratory best practices
• Evaluate quality-control procedures
• Consider applicable safety standards in experimental design and review
• Identify procedural risks or weaknesses
• Support scientifically rigorous and responsible laboratory workflows

AI Scientific Evaluation

• Review AI-generated chemistry content for technical accuracy
• Identify incorrect assumptions, reaction errors, or weak scientific reasoning
• Provide structured feedback to improve model performance
• Evaluate explanations for clarity, completeness, and scientific relevance
• Contribute high-quality chemistry expertise to AI training datasets

Technical Communication & Collaboration

• Translate complex chemistry concepts into clear professional language
• Explain experimental results to non-specialist audiences where required
• Provide concise written and verbal recommendations
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and interdisciplinary contributors
• Support consistent scientific standards across project tasks

Ideal Profile

• Advanced degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
• PhD is preferred
• Extensive hands-on wet-lab experience
• Strong experimental-design skills
• Deep understanding of chemical reactions
• Strong background in analytical chemistry
• Experience with laboratory instrumentation and separation techniques
• Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving ability
• Strong understanding of scientific reproducibility
• Experience with product development, quality control, process optimisation, or research environments is valuable
• Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and quality-control protocols is advantageous
• Experience with regulatory or laboratory-quality guidelines is beneficial
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
• Experience contributing to interdisciplinary or cross-functional projects is advantageous
• No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

• Compensation: $70–$90/hour
• Work will involve chemistry analysis, wet-lab methodology, experimental design, chemical reactions, analytical chemistry, scientific documentation, and AI-generated content evaluation
• Strong hands-on laboratory and scientific reasoning experience is central to this engagement
• Assignments may involve reaction analysis, experimental protocols, analytical data, laboratory scenarios, quality-control questions, and scientific explanations
• Project scope, workload, chemistry topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
