[Remote] Data Architect| Fluent English

Responsibilities:

• We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Architect to lead the architecture, design, modernization, and operational excellence of enterprise PostgreSQL platforms on Microsoft Azure. This role will serve as the technical authority for mission-critical database environments, driving scalability, performance, availability, security, and cost optimization initiatives.
• The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, cloud database architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, database modernization, and performance engineering. The individual will work closely with application architects, cloud engineering teams, DevOps, and business stakeholders to build resilient and future-ready data platforms that support enterprise growth.

Requires:

• Define and maintain enterprise database architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure PostgreSQL solutions on Azure.
• Lead cloud-native database modernization and transformation initiatives.
• Drive database platform strategy for performance, scalability, governance, and operational excellence.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural improvements.

Azure PostgreSQL Architecture:

• Architect and implement solutions using Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server.
• Design and optimize Read Replica architecture for reporting and read-intensive workloads.
• Develop scaling strategies for high-volume OLTP and analytical workloads.
• Design multi-environment database platforms supporting development, testing, UAT, and production.
• Lead capacity planning and growth forecasting activities.

Performance Engineering & Optimization:

• Analyze database workloads and identify performance bottlenecks.
• Optimize SQL queries, indexing strategies, execution plans, and database configurations.
• Tune PostgreSQL memory, storage, IOPS, connection management, and workload distribution.
• Develop performance baselines, KPIs, and SLA metrics.
• Lead root cause analysis for critical performance incidents.
• Drive proactive performance monitoring and optimization initiatives.

Database Governance & Compliance:

• Define database governance frameworks and standards.
• Establish backup, retention, auditing, and monitoring policies.
• Implement least-privilege access controls and role-based security.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate security requirements.
• Conduct architecture reviews and technical risk assessments.

Automation & Database DevOps:

• Implement database Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Bicep.
• Automate provisioning, monitoring, patching, and maintenance processes.
• Integrate database deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Develop CI/CD practices for database schema management.
• Standardize operational procedures and automation frameworks.

Technical Leadership:

• Serve as the organization's PostgreSQL and Azure database Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Mentor DBAs, cloud engineers, and development teams.
• Provide technical governance and architecture review oversight.
• Drive database platform innovation and modernization.
• Partner with enterprise architects and application teams on solution design.

Experience

• 7+ years of database administration, engineering, and architecture experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience.
• Proven experience managing mission-critical enterprise databases.
• Experience supporting large-scale PostgreSQL environments exceeding 5TB+.
• Strong track record delivering cloud migration and modernization projects.

Communication Requirements:

• Communicate effectively with Group Office, Markets, leadership, and external vendors.
• Clearly articulate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
