Selected professionals will evaluate developmental-psychology data and AI-generated outputs, contribute expert analysis to scenarios and test cases, and help define psychologically appropriate guidelines for systems interacting with or reasoning about children across diverse developmental and cultural contexts. The role is especially suitable for researchers and academics; direct clinical experience is not required. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Developmental Psychology Evaluation

  • Evaluate and annotate datasets related to child development and developmental psychology
  • Assess whether AI-generated outputs are developmentally appropriate and psychologically sound
  • Identify inaccurate, oversimplified, or contextually inappropriate interpretations
  • Apply developmental theory and research evidence when reviewing model behaviour
  • Maintain strong standards for psychological accuracy across varied age groups and developmental stages

Child Development & Behaviour Analysis

  • Contribute expert analysis to scenarios involving children's learning, behaviour, cognition, and social development
  • Evaluate developmental expectations within realistic child-focused situations
  • Identify factors affecting emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and psychosocial development
  • Apply research-based judgement to ambiguous developmental scenarios
  • Distinguish age-appropriate variation from potentially misleading or unsupported assumptions

Scenario & Test Case Development

  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of realistic developmental-psychology scenarios
  • Develop test cases that assess AI reasoning across child-development topics
  • Review scenarios for developmental relevance, cultural appropriateness, and realism
  • Help ensure test material reflects meaningful differences across ages and developmental contexts
  • Provide expert feedback on scenario quality and psychological validity

Guideline & Framework Development

  • Create or refine guidelines for AI systems addressing child-development topics
  • Support guidance related to linguistic, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial development
  • Incorporate cultural and contextual considerations across diverse populations
  • Identify areas where model behaviour requires stronger developmental safeguards or nuance
  • Help establish consistent standards for psychologically appropriate AI interactions

Research & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Document findings, recommendations, and expert observations clearly
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams working across psychology, technology, and AI evaluation
  • Translate developmental research into practical guidance for technical teams
  • Support iterative improvements to datasets, evaluation frameworks, and model outputs
  • Contribute independently within a distributed remote working environment

Ideal Profile

  • PhD in Child Development, Developmental Psychology, or a closely related field
  • Strong academic or research background in child development or developmental psychology
  • Deep understanding of cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and psychosocial development
  • Ability to evaluate developmental relevance and cultural appropriateness
  • Strong critical-analysis and research-interpretation skills
  • Direct clinical experience is welcome but not required
  • Experience with technology-driven, digital, or AI-related projects involving child development is highly desirable
  • Comfortable working independently on remote digital platforms
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to document complex psychological concepts clearly
  • No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
  • Applicants with proficiency in Japanese, French, Tagalog, Malay, Lithuanian, Russian, Georgian, Polish, Marathi, Bengali, Urdu, Vietnamese, Swahili, Mandarin, Cantonese, Indonesian, Turkish, Gujarati, or Bulgarian are being prioritised

Engagement Details

  • Independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Compensation: $100–$200/hour
  • Work will involve developmental-psychology evaluation, dataset annotation, scenario development, guideline creation, and expert review of AI-generated material
  • Academic and research expertise in child development is central to this engagement
  • Direct clinical experience is not required
  • Project scope, workload, research focus, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
  • Work must be completed without using confidential research data, protected participant information, proprietary institutional materials, or other restricted third-party information
