Remote | Mandarin Transcription Expert — $20–$30/hour

We are sharing a specialised remote consulting opportunity for Mandarin language professionals with strong transcription, listening, and bilingual communication skills to contribute to an advanced AI training project focused on high-quality Mandarin and English audio data.

Selected professionals will listen to Mandarin and English audio recordings, produce accurate verbatim transcriptions, annotate content according to project guidelines, and review completed transcripts for consistency and linguistic accuracy. The work requires native-level Mandarin comprehension, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to resolve ambiguous or context-dependent language. No prior experience in AI is required.

Key Responsibilities

Mandarin & English Audio Transcription

• Listen carefully to Mandarin and English audio recordings
• Produce accurate, verbatim transcriptions that preserve the meaning and structure of the source audio
• Handle natural speech patterns, accents, hesitations, and context-dependent expressions appropriately
• Apply strong listening comprehension when working with challenging or unclear recordings
• Maintain accuracy and consistency across repeated transcription assignments

Annotation & Linguistic Review

• Add relevant tags, labels, or contextual notes according to project guidelines
• Identify linguistic nuances, ambiguous passages, or unclear audio requiring further review
• Apply consistent annotation conventions across transcription tasks
• Contribute linguistic insight that supports high-quality Mandarin-language datasets
• Follow detailed project instructions and formatting standards carefully

Proofreading & Quality Assurance

• Review and proofread completed transcripts for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
• Correct transcription, punctuation, formatting, or annotation errors before submission
• Ensure deliverables meet established project quality standards
• Verify that transcripts accurately reflect the underlying audio
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail throughout the review process

Remote Collaboration & Delivery

• Collaborate with project coordinators to clarify ambiguous content or linguistic questions
• Communicate transcription challenges and edge cases clearly
• Deliver completed work within agreed timelines
• Incorporate feedback and updated guidelines into subsequent assignments
• Manage transcription responsibilities independently within a remote working environment

Ideal Profile

• Native fluency in Mandarin with advanced listening and comprehension skills
• Strong ability to understand and transcribe spoken Mandarin accurately
• Professional or substantial practical experience in audio transcription
• Experience handling Mandarin-language audio is strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing highly accurate deliverables
• Familiarity with transcription tools or platforms is advantageous
• Ability to follow detailed formatting, tagging, and annotation instructions
• Comfortable working independently and managing remote project deliverables
• Experience with bilingual Mandarin-English transcription or language projects is beneficial
• Strong written communication skills
• Interest in language technology and AI training is advantageous
• No prior experience in AI training is required
