Job Title: Registered Pharmacy Technician – Call Center (Remote) Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to work in a high-volume call center environment, supporting patients and healthcare providers by accurately processing prescriptions and delivering excellent customer service. You will handle a large volume of inbound calls, verify and enter prescription information into the pharmacy processing system, and collaborate closely with pharmacists and the wider pharmacy team to ensure timely and accurate medication support. Responsibilities Handle a high volume of inbound calls from patients and healthcare providers in a professional and courteous manner. Engage in active listening with callers, confirming or clarifying information and diffusing upset or distressed patients and providers as needed. Verify HIPAA information and maintain strict confidentiality when speaking with patients and providers. Receive, review, and verify patients’ prescriptions for completeness and accuracy. Prepare, scan, and organize prescription documents and related records in accordance with internal procedures. Accurately enter prescription orders into the pharmacy processing system, ensuring all data is complete and correct. Coordinate and prioritize prescription orders based on their degree of urgency within the pharmacy processing system. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation within processing systems, following established policies and procedures. Efficiently enter and update patient data, prescription details, and other relevant information in the pharmacy processing system. Work closely with pharmacists and pharmacy teams to ensure patient and provider needs are met in a timely fashion. Coordinate with call center hub programs and other internal teams as applicable to support prescription processing and patient care. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to pharmacy practice and patient information. Prioritize and organize daily workload to meet agreed-upon deadlines and service level expectations. Use email, instant messaging, and Microsoft Office programs to communicate and collaborate with colleagues and support workflow. Navigate multiple computer programs simultaneously with accuracy and dexterity while handling calls and processing prescriptions. Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions and uphold high standards of customer service and pharmacy support. Solve routine issues independently and escalate more complex problems appropriately. Support activities related to customer service, retail pharmacy, call center operations, dosing and dosage understanding, prior authorization, insurance billing, and general pharmacy support as needed. Essential Skills Active Registered Pharmacy Technician license with the Florida Board of Pharmacy. High school diploma or GED. Ideally 1–2 years of pharmacy work experience, such as retail pharmacy, call center pharmacy, or other pharmacy-related settings. Proficiency in data entry with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong computer skills, including efficient use of email programs, instant messaging tools, and all Microsoft Office programs. Ability to efficiently enter and manage data in pharmacy processing systems. Knowledge of prescriptions, dosing, dosage, and general pharmacy terminology. Experience in customer service, particularly in high-volume or call center environments. Ability to work efficiently in a high-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to multitask and handle multiple requests at the same time. Efficient typing skills suitable for high-volume data entry. Ability to comply with HIPAA and maintain confidentiality of patient information. Capability to sit, stand, and use computer screens for extended periods of time. Ability to navigate between multiple computer programs with speed and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to solve routine problems independently and handle both standard and non-standard requests with minimal assistance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent pharmacy technician certification. Experience with non-commercial pharmacy operations. Experience with prior authorization processes and insurance billing. Experience in healthcare or pharmacy support roles. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred and considered an asset. Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic, changing work environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with patients, providers, and internal teams. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure when working with upset or distressed callers. Moderate level of knowledge and skills in pharmacy technician functions, with the ability to work independently on routine tasks. Work Environment This is a remote position based in Lake Mary, FL, supporting a call center operation that handles a high volume of inbound calls from patients and healthcare providers. The employer provides necessary equipment, including a laptop and headset, to perform the role. Standard work shifts run Monday through Friday, with a primary shift of 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST. The overall hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST, and shift times may change based on business needs. The schedule includes a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks, which are set and not flexible. The environment is fast-paced and highly computer-driven, requiring extended periods of sitting, frequent use of computer screens, and regular use of multiple software systems.
