Remote | PhD Physicist — $70–$90/hour
24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for PhD-level Physicists with strong backgrounds in theoretical or experimental physics, scientific research, critical analysis, teaching, and advanced scientific communication to contribute to an AI training and physics-evaluation project.
Selected professionals will research advanced physics topics, analyse experimental and theoretical results, develop clear scientific explanations, review AI-generated physics content, and contribute to educational and evaluation materials used to improve next-generation AI systems. The work is well suited to researchers and educators who are comfortable engaging deeply with complex physical concepts and communicating them with precision. No prior experience in AI is required.
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Physics Research
- Conduct deep-dive research on fundamental and applied physics topics
- Review relevant scientific literature and current developments
- Synthesise findings from multiple technical sources
- Evaluate theoretical and experimental evidence
- Develop scientifically rigorous conclusions
Theoretical Physics Analysis
- Analyse physical theories and mathematical models
- Evaluate assumptions, approximations, and derivations
- Assess whether conclusions follow logically from underlying physical principles
- Identify conceptual inconsistencies or unsupported reasoning
- Translate advanced theoretical ideas into clear explanations
Experimental Data Interpretation
- Analyse experimental physics data
- Interpret results in the context of physical models
- Assess uncertainty, limitations, and consistency of findings
- Evaluate whether experimental evidence supports stated conclusions
- Identify alternative interpretations where scientifically relevant
Scientific Problem Solving
- Solve advanced physics problems requiring multi-step reasoning
- Apply appropriate physical laws and mathematical techniques
- Evaluate competing solution approaches
- Detect errors in calculations, assumptions, or logic
- Produce clear and defensible explanations of solutions
AI Physics Evaluation
- Review AI-generated physics content
- Assess outputs for conceptual accuracy and scientific rigour
- Identify factual, mathematical, or logical errors
- Evaluate clarity and completeness of explanations
- Provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Educational Content Development
- Contribute to physics-related educational and evaluation materials
- Develop explanations suitable for advanced undergraduate, graduate, or research-level audiences
- Support creation and curation of physics training content
- Translate complex scientific material into clear instructional formats
- Help define high-quality examples of scientific reasoning
Scientific Writing & Communication
- Produce precise written explanations of advanced physics concepts
- Communicate technical findings clearly in written and verbal formats
- Distil complex scientific ideas without sacrificing accuracy
- Provide detailed feedback on research and physics-related queries
- Support effective knowledge transfer across multidisciplinary teams
Teaching & Instruction
- Apply experience in physics education to complex scientific topics
- Explain concepts in a structured and pedagogically sound manner

- Contribute teaching-oriented expertise to AI evaluation workflows
Remote Research Collaboration
- Collaborate with project stakeholders in a remote environment

Ideal Profile
- PhD in Physics or a closely related scientific discipline
- Strong foundation in theoretical and/or experimental physics
- Demonstrated experience conducting rigorous scientific research
- Record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals
- Strong ability to analyse experimental data
- Experience developing or evaluating physical models and theories
- Exceptional critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to scientific and mathematical detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly
- Strong interest in scientific education and communication
- Experience teaching physics at university or advanced undergraduate level is advantageous
- Experience developing educational or instructional materials is beneficial
- Comfortable working on collaborative, multidisciplinary research projects
- Able to work effectively in a fully remote environment
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

- Work will involve physics research, theoretical and experimental analysis, scientific writing, educational content, and AI-generated physics evaluation
- Strong research experience and scientific judgement are central to this engagement
- Assignments may involve fundamental or applied physics, experimental interpretation, theoretical reasoning, educational content, and advanced scientific problem solving
- Project scope, workload, physics topics, and evaluation standards may evolve depending on project requirements
- Work must be completed without using confidential, proprietary, unpublished, embargoed, or otherwise restricted information belonging to any employer, research institution, laboratory, collaborator, publisher, or other third party
