Is this job info correct?

We're hiring a Research Assistant / Analyst to help us gather, organize, and make sense of the information that drives our business decisions as we prepare for public launch.

Summary

  • Flexible Title: Can tailor to reflect your skills & experience.
  • Flexible Time: Can do full-time, part-time, side-gig (off-hours), or fractional (contract).
  • Flexible Commitment: Can do short-term, long-term, or intermittent.

Why so flexible? We're a FUNDED startup racing toward launch. Feel free to jump in, help us ship, then bounce >> or stick around. A successful launch translates into lots of permanent jobs for those that want them. We're also interested in long-term "side gig" relationships, if that's what you're into—in our experience, a few expert hours often beat full-time learning-curve hours.

About Us

We're a credible, funded, remote-first startup backed by a growing team. We're pre-launch and moving fast.

About The Role

We make better decisions when we have better information — and right now, we need someone who can go find it. You'll research markets, competitors, potential partners, industry trends, and anything else the team needs to move faster and smarter. Some days that's a deep competitive analysis; other days it's pulling a quick list of contacts or verifying a data set.

This is a great fit for someone who's naturally curious, knows how to dig, and can turn a pile of raw information into something clear and actionable. If you've ever been the person your team relied on to "figure it out and come back with the answer," that's this role.

Compensation

Up to $65,000 max total annual compensation in Tier 1 cities; cash and equity components to be negotiated. Given the flexible commitment model, comp will be structured accordingly — fractional or hourly arrangements welcome.

What You'll Do in Your First 7 Days

  • You've reviewed our current research needs and understand what the team is working on
  • You've gotten access to relevant tools, databases, and internal documents
  • You've completed your first research assignment and delivered a clear summary
  • You've attended your first team meeting and understand how research feeds into decisions
  • The team knows who you are, why you're here, and how you'll work together

What You'll Do Ongoing

  • Conduct market and competitive research — gather information on competitors, market trends, and industry developments
  • Build lists and data sets — compile contact lists, company databases, and resource collections based on specific criteria
  • Summarize and present findings — turn raw research into clear, concise briefs that leadership can act on
  • Verify and fact-check information — cross-reference sources to make sure what we're working with is accurate
  • Support multiple teams — research needs come from marketing, sales, product, and leadership; you'll flex across all of them

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • Naturally curious — you enjoy digging into topics and finding answers
  • Strong research skills — you know how to find reliable information quickly using online sources, databases, and tools
  • Excellent written communication — you can summarize complex findings clearly and concisely
  • Organized — you can manage multiple research requests simultaneously without losing quality
  • Detail-oriented — accuracy matters; you double-check your work

Nice-to-have:

  • Previous research, analyst, or consulting experience (academic research counts)
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and basic data analysis (Google Sheets, Excel, pivot tables)
  • Experience using AI tools for research (ChatGPT, Perplexity, or similar)
  • Familiarity with competitive intelligence or market research tools
  • Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments

What You're NOT

  • Not a data scientist — you're gathering and organizing information, not building statistical models
  • Not a strategist — you deliver the research; leadership makes the decisions
  • Not a specialist — you'll research across many topics; depth is valued, but breadth is the job
