We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced Simulation Experts with strong expertise in robotics and physics simulation, real-to-sim environment development, 3D modelling, CAD, rigid-body dynamics, and physically accurate asset creation to contribute to advanced AI training and simulation initiatives.
Selected professionals will build realistic simulated environments, translate real-world objects and instruments into digital assets, tune physical parameters for behavioural fidelity, and collaborate with scientists and technical experts to validate simulation accuracy. No prior AI experience is required; hands-on simulation and physics expertise is the primary qualification.
Key Responsibilities
3D Asset & Environment Development
- Build and configure 3D assets for realistic simulation environments
- Develop scenes using platforms such as Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, Unity, Unreal, or PyBullet
- Recreate real-world objects, instruments, and operational environments
- Maintain accurate geometry, scale, proportions, and spatial relationships
- Support creation of reusable simulation assets and environment components
Real-to-Sim Translation
- Translate physical objects and environments into simulation-ready representations
- Match material characteristics and expected physical behaviour
- Apply CAD and 3D modelling knowledge to improve asset fidelity
- Identify real-world characteristics that materially affect simulation performance
- Preserve relevant constraints when converting physical systems into virtual environments
Physics & Dynamics Configuration
- Configure mass, friction, collision properties, and related physical parameters
- Tune joint dynamics and mechanical interactions
- Apply knowledge of rigid-body dynamics and material properties
- Support sensor and environmental behaviour where relevant
- Refine physical settings until simulated behaviour aligns with expected real-world outcomes
Simulation Validation & Troubleshooting
- Compare simulated behaviour against real-world reference behaviour
- Identify discrepancies in motion, collisions, materials, or environmental response
- Diagnose configuration and modelling issues affecting simulation accuracy
- Iterate on assets, environments, and physics parameters to improve fidelity
- Document technical issues and corrective actions clearly
Scientific Collaboration & Quality
- Collaborate with scientists and subject-matter experts to validate simulation environments
- Incorporate technical feedback into asset and environment revisions
- Explain modelling assumptions and simulation decisions clearly
- Maintain strong attention to detail across iterative development cycles
- Support consistent quality standards for real-to-sim simulation workflows
Ideal Profile
- Hands-on experience with at least one robotics or physics simulation platform
- Relevant platforms may include Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, Unity, Unreal, PyBullet, or comparable systems
- Strong background in 3D modelling, CAD, or environment design
- Experience creating or adapting assets for simulation
- Strong understanding of rigid-body dynamics
- Familiarity with mass, friction, collision properties, joints, and materials
- Understanding of simulation sensors and environment behaviour is valuable
- Experience translating real-world objects into digital or simulated representations
- Strong troubleshooting skills across simulation and modelling workflows
- Ability to identify sources of mismatch between virtual and physical behaviour
- Strong collaboration skills with scientific and technical stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to real-world fidelity
- Clear written and verbal technical communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
Engagement Details
- Independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Compensation: $60–$150/hour
- Work will involve real-to-sim environment development, 3D asset creation, physics configuration, validation, and troubleshooting
- Assignments may use Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo, Unity, Unreal, PyBullet, CAD, or related modelling tools
- Strong simulation fidelity and practical physics judgement are central to this engagement
- Collaboration may involve scientists, engineers, researchers, and other subject-matter experts
- Project scope, simulation platforms, environments, and technical requirements may evolve depending on project needs
