Remote | Subject Matter Expert – Financial & Operations Chart Analysis — $25–$50/hour
24-MAGWe are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced finance, economics, business analytics, industrial engineering, and operations professionals with strong expertise in financial and operational chart interpretation, quantitative reasoning, analytical task design, and technical communication to contribute to an advanced AI training and evaluation project.
Selected professionals will interpret complex financial and operational visualisations, design rigorous multi-step reasoning questions, produce objectively verifiable answers, and document analytical processes with precise domain terminology. The work is particularly suited to professionals experienced with financial markets, risk analysis, operational performance, process improvement, and quantitative business analysis. No prior experience in AI is required.

- Identify trends, changes, relationships, and anomalies
- Apply appropriate financial and economic terminology throughout analysis
Operations & Process Analysis
- Interpret operational-performance charts and process visualisations
- Analyse control charts, Pareto charts, process flows, and capacity or throughput charts
- Evaluate operational trends and performance differences
- Identify bottlenecks, variability, and process-related patterns
- Apply appropriate operations and industrial-engineering terminology
Multi-Step Quantitative Reasoning
- Design and solve tasks requiring multiple analytical steps
- Perform calculations derived from chart data
- Compare values, rates, changes, proportions, and trends
- Analyse relationships across multiple variables or periods
- Produce clear and numerically supported conclusions
Question & Task Design
- Develop clear, objective, and unambiguous analytical questions
- Create tasks requiring substantive reasoning rather than simple data lookup
- Design questions involving calculations, comparisons, interpolation, and trend analysis
- Ensure all required information is available within the visualisation
- Avoid subjective or unnecessarily complex task construction
Financial & Economic Reasoning
- Apply financial and economic concepts to chart-based analysis
- Interpret market movements and financial metrics accurately
- Evaluate time-series changes and comparative performance
- Distinguish observed chart information from inferred conclusions
- Use precise financial terminology, notation, units, and timeframes
Operational Performance Reasoning
- Analyse productivity, capacity, throughput, and process-performance indicators
- Evaluate operational variation and performance trends
- Interpret process-control and quality-related visualisations
- Compare operational scenarios quantitatively
- Develop clear conclusions grounded in displayed data
Step-by-Step Solution Development
- Produce precise final answers
- Document calculations and analytical steps clearly
- Explain quantitative reasoning in logical sequence
- Support conclusions with explicit chart-derived evidence
- Ensure solutions can be independently reproduced and verified
Technical Precision
- Reference axes, units, legends, scales, categories, and annotations accurately
- Maintain correct financial and operational terminology
- Preserve relevant timeframes and measurement conventions
- Avoid unsupported extrapolation
- Maintain consistency between charts, questions, calculations, and answers
AI Benchmark & Evaluation Support
- Develop high-quality analytical tasks for AI training and evaluation
- Create benchmark questions reflecting realistic finance and operations work
- Evaluate whether AI-generated answers demonstrate correct reasoning
- Identify quantitative, interpretive, or terminology errors
- Contribute expert-reviewed content to model-evaluation workflows
Quality Assurance
- Review analytical tasks for ambiguity or hidden assumptions
- Verify numerical calculations
- Confirm expected answers are objectively supported by the visualisation
- Check terminology and units for accuracy
- Maintain consistent quality standards across project deliverables
Remote Collaboration
- Collaborate asynchronously with project coordinators and reviewers
- Incorporate feedback into task revisions
- Communicate analytical reasoning clearly in written and verbal formats
- Support consistent evaluation standards across contributor teams
- Work independently while meeting project quality expectations
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum 2 years of professional, academic, or research experience interpreting financial-market data, risk metrics, or operational-performance charts
- Strong chart-interpretation and quantitative-reasoning ability
- Experience with financial charts such as candlesticks, yield curves, drawdowns, or volume visualisations
- Familiarity with operational charts such as control charts, Pareto charts, process flows, or capacity and throughput visualisations
- Advanced understanding of axes, units, scales, legends, categories, and annotations
- Ability to design clear and objectively answerable analytical questions
- Strong written and spoken English
- Ability to communicate calculations and analytical processes clearly
- Experience with financial reporting, technical documentation, process assessment, quality analysis, or structured analytical task development is advantageous
- Background producing benchmark questions, data-annotation tasks, technical reports, or comparable analytical materials is valuable
- Bilingual proficiency in English and another relevant language is advantageous but not required
- Strong attention to detail and analytical rigour
- No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required
