The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has an exciting full time opportunity for a Research Analyst 1 for the Department of Research in Miami, Florida.


The Research Analyst prepares data, conducts statistical analysis and summarizes results for a variety of research projects.

• Analyzes data and interprets research findings.

• Identifies appropriate data sources to conduct and execute analyses.

• Verifies accuracy and internal consistency of reports, including required state and federal reports.

• Ensures proper technical documentation and preparation of tabular, written reports and oral presentations.

• Completes surveys and reports, discipline-specific accreditation, admission, and grant proposals.

• Provides feedback and assistance on honing the conclusions and recommendations into actionable findings.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS

Department Specific Functions: Pre-Award- This role is expected to be familiar with a variety of funding sources and mechanisms. Knowledge of grants and contracts.

- Manage and coordinate grant and contract proposal activities from development through submission.

- Interpret sponsor guidelines, University policies, and federal regulations to ensure proposal compliance.

- Prepare and review budgets, budget justifications, Other Support, and other required proposal documents.

- Advise Principal Investigators (PIs) and research staff on proposal requirements, budgets, deadlines, and submission procedures.

- Coordinate subcontract documentation with collaborating institutions and organizations.

- Review proposals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to submission.

- Stay current on federal regulations, sponsor requirements, and electronic grant submission systems.

Research Support: This role assists the Sr. Manager of Research Support and the Sr. Manager, Programs with multi-tasks associated with research support as needed.

- Assist research faculty with research equipment purchases, installation, training, disposal, and surplus equipment.

- Coordinate with University support services to maintain research and administrative spaces.

- Assist with department space inventory and support optimal use of assigned spaces.

- Provide administrative support for departmental and sponsored research activities as needed.

- Coordinate Lab Coat orders for research faculty and research personnel.

- Managed inventory, procurement, and restocking of laboratory building supplies and essential research consumables.

- Coordinate all processes for International Scholars seeking to participate in the department’s Research Scholar and Short-Term-Scholar; Research Trainees, Non-UM Medical students, and Observership programs.

- Communicate with Scholars and Primary Investigators before, during, and after completion of program.

- Correspond with Research Team on Grant accounts and Finance for Department accounts. Ensure UM-paid scholars are promptly processed for new hire orientation.

- Assist in submitting extensions, amendments, and approvals as required.

- Obtain approvals from leadership and communicate with the Finance Office.

- Inquire status for accuracy of title, salary, accounts, and visa; prepare documents.

- Assist in maintaining communication with liaisons for VISA sponsorship approvals and follow ups.

- Assist with other research programs such as: Trainee Experience, Observership (International and Domestic), UM Students, and NON-UM Medical Students
