About the Department of Pathology: The Department of Pathology at Stanford School of Medicine, one of its founding departments, stands as a leader among its peers nationwide. Our preeminent faculty spans from emerging leaders to highly accomplished physicians and scientists, including a Nobel laureate and members of the National Academy. For more information about the department visit http://pathology.stanford.edu/ About the Lab: The Research Data Analyst 2 will be working within the Stanford Pathology EMERALD (Enhancing Medical Excellence via Research in Advanced Laboratory Diagnostics) Program. EMERALD is engaged in diagnostics research and novel test development with the goal of rapid deployment in the clinical laboratories. About the Position: Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Analyst 2 to join our comprehensive cancer genomics program. The RDA2 will be involved in the development and application of bioinformatic tools for the analysis of oncology-related sequencing data including, but not limited to, whole exome, whole genome, and whole transcriptome data from solid tumor and hematopoietic cell malignancies. The RDA2 will also support the implementation of distributed pipeline architectures for medical NGS data analysis. The emphasis is on clinical grade quality, scalability and maintainability in an in-house cluster or cloud environment. Duties include: Prioritize and extract data from a variety of sources such as notes, survey results, medical reports, and laboratory data, and maintain its accuracy and completeness. Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements. Design and customize reports based upon data in the database. Oversee and monitor regulatory compliance for utilization of the data. Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others. Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation. Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys. Test prototype software and participate in approval and release process for new software. Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff. Analyze sequencing data generated as part of the comprehensive cancer genomics program. * - Other duties may also be assigned Physical Requirements*: Sitting in place at computer for long periods of time with extensive keyboarding/dexterity. Occasionally use a telephone. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs. Excellent writing and analytical skills. Ability to prioritize workload.
