Role Description As a Research Engineer Robotics (Systems) at Cruq AI, you will design, implement, and evaluate robotic systems that leverage advanced AI agents for real-world automation. You will conduct applied research on algorithms and system architectures, develop prototypes, integrate hardware and software components, and validate performance through simulations and experiments. Day-to-day activities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, writing clean and testable code, analyzing experimental results, and iterating on system designs for robustness, safety, and scalability. You will document your work, contribute to technical publications, and support the transition from research prototypes to production-ready solutions. This is a full-time, remote role.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
- Experience in Research and Development (R&D) and applied Research for robotics, autonomous systems, or AI-driven control.
- Background in Physics or related fields, with understanding of dynamics, kinematics, and control systems for robotic platforms.
- Proficiency in designing and analyzing Algorithms for perception, planning, control, or multi-agent coordination.
- Hands-on experience with robotics frameworks (e.g., ROS), simulation tools (e.g., Gazebo, Isaac, Webots), and real or simulated robotic systems.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C++, or Rust, and familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
- Ability to design experiments, interpret data, and communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with machine learning or reinforcement learning for robotics, and knowledge of systems engineering or distributed systems, is highly beneficial.
