Overview: Cutter Associates is seeking a relationship-driven Research Member Sales & Services professional in Australia to grow and support Cutter’s research membership business with a focus on Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. This role combines consultative sales, strategic account management, and member success responsibilities to expand Cutter’s presence in the region while ensuring current members realize meaningful value from Cutter’s research, events, analyst access, and peer community. The role will serve as Cutter’s primary AU contact for both prospective and existing members, representing Cutter’s research products and services to asset managers and asset owners, including Superannuation funds. This is a highly visible role for someone who can engage credibly with C-suite and senior executives, understand the operational realities of investment management organizations, and position Cutter’s research as a strategic, long-term partner rather than a transactional product. The role will work closely with Cutter’s Head of Research, Client Success, Research Sales for North America/EMEA, Research, Consulting, and Marketing teams to deliver a seamless experience across the full member lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Research Membership Sales & Business Development Own and grow research membership revenue through new member acquisition, expansion opportunities, renewal support, and disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, and risk identification. Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers across prospective asset management and asset owner organizations, including COOs, Heads of Operations, CTOs, and technology, data, and functional leaders. Lead consultative sales conversations that connect prospective member challenges to Cutter’s independent research, events, analyst access, and peer network. Maintain strong knowledge of industry trends, including technology modernization, AI adoption, total portfolio approach, operating model evolution, and cost optimization. Member Success, Retention & Relationship Management Serve as the primary point of contact for members in the region, building multi-level relationships and maintaining a clear engagement strategy and service plan for each account. Lead tailored onboarding and connect members to relevant research, roundtables, webinars, and in-person events based on their priorities, organizational structure, and business needs. Conduct periodic executive business reviews and execute retention plans that demonstrate value, address evolving needs, establish clear touchpoints, and identify at-risk accounts early. Bring regional market feedback, client themes, and emerging needs to Cutter’s research and leadership teams to inform service improvements, product innovation, research direction, and future priorities and offerings. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting Partner with Client Success, Research Sales for North America/EMEA, Research, Consulting, and Marketing to deliver a coordinated member experience, align client needs with Cutter’s research agenda, and identify relevant consulting, expanded-service, and broader commercial opportunities. Track and analyze engagement data, portfolio health, renewal performance, and client satisfaction to guide proactive outreach, strengthen retention, and improve the member journey. Contribute to internal best practices and help reinforce Cutter’s collaborative, transparent, and client-focused culture. Success in this role includes: Growing research membership in the region Achieving strong membership retention and a target renewal rate (>90%) Building trusted executive relationships across target firms Driving attendance and registration at Cutter events Expanding Cutter’s presence and reputation in the region Working collaboratively and transparently with others Qualifications: Experience & Skills 5–7 years of experience in sales, business development, client success, relationship or account management, managed services, or a related commercial role serving financial services, investment management, or enterprise technology clients. Deep understanding of the buy-side investment ecosystem and asset manager and asset owner operating models, with credibility across front-, middle-, and back-office functions, including technology, operations, data, risk, compliance, reporting, and performance. Proven ability to sell and support intangible, trust-based offerings—including research, advisory services, subscriptions, platforms, or managed services—with disciplined pipeline management, forecasting, opportunity qualification, and proactive risk communication. Strong executive presence and exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with confidence engaging C-suite leaders, senior executives, and functional decision-makers and leading client forums, roundtables, and executive discussions. Strong networking skills and comfort facilitating peer connections across member organizations, coupled with sound judgment, ownership, transparency, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency with CRM, marketing automation, and client engagement platforms to manage relationships, track activity, and inform decisions. Preferred Experience: Experience working with or selling to asset managers, asset owners, public pension funds, insurance companies, or investment technology organizations. Familiarity with investment management systems and workflows such as accounting, trading, performance, risk, reporting, data, portfolio management, operations, and compliance. Knowledge of major investment management platforms or ecosystems such as Aladdin by BlackRock, State Street Alpha, SimCorp One, or region-specific tools like Rimes Matrix is a plus. Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree is a plus.
