Department: School of International Service Time Type: Part time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Description: Summary: The Student Research Program Assistant position in the SIS Office of Research, assisting primarily with event planning/management and other duties as assigned, including social media and communication, written promotional projects, database management, and administrative tasks. The SIS Office of Research supports the research endeavors of SIS faculty by providing resources and technical assistance for research promotion and research development. The Research Program Assistant is a part-time position working 15 - 20 hours per week, using a hybrid schedule that combines some hours in the office with remote work. Essential Functions: Event Planning and Management, including but not limited to: booking venues and travel for guest speakers, placing catering orders, coordinating honoraria/contracts/financial paperwork with external guests, assisting with design of promotional materials, day-of standby support, etc. Database management / data entry / search tools. Assisting with scheduling and basic administrative functions including documentation and file organization. Posting to / managing content of SIS Research social media accounts. Attending SIS Research events and writing related content for the research website. Helping the office develop a more systematized organizational process for documentation. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 15 - 20 hours per week. Salary Range: $18.40 - $18.50 per hour. Required Education and Experience: Excellent organizational and time management skills. Customer Service focus and ability to professionally communicate with faculty members and other contacts outside of SIS is essential. Strong writing skills, both longer-form pieces and shorter posts for social media. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work in multicultural environments. Preferred Education and Experience: Previous experience working at AU campus office. Experience with graphic design (especially Canva), Eventbrite, and SharePoint. Experience posting or managing content of social media accounts for an organization. Other Details This position is available only to enrolled American University students.
