Research Scientist OPS

This position will assist with gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of data related to clinical research, clinical quality improvement, and programmatic effectiveness. Applies statistical knowledge and methods to improve data collection plan and to create insight.

Reports to the Assistant Dean Clinical Affairs to assist with:

• Aggregating and analyzing clinical data/quality reports to support contract execution and justification.
• Aggregating and analyzing partnership and programmatic data/quality reports to support institutional effectiveness and accreditation.
• Designing study protocols, completing power analyses, preparing grants, performing literature reviews, developing data extraction forms, extracting data, managing data, and analyzing data.
• Conducting statistical analyses using appropriate statistical software (such as STATA, SAS, R, and SPSS), including descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, survival analysis, and various multivariable modeling.
• Provides insight regarding biostatistics and research methodologies and proposes statistical approaches to improve research and quality improvement efforts.
• Scholarly, research, and clinical results dissemination and presentation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of statistical concepts, methods, and techniques used in clinical research studies.
• Proficiency in statistical software packages such as STATA, SAS, R, or SPSS.
• Solid understanding of experimental design, sample size calculations, and randomization methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex statistical concepts to non-statisticians.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Working Conditions

• Environment – Typical indoor environment/office setting.
• Physical Requirements – climbing, standing, stooping, and/or typing; Ability to lift up to 20lbs as needed.
• Travel – Ability to travel to other USF campuses and/or other locations as requested.

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field and a minimum of two years of professional experience; or a master's degree in one of the same fields.
