Resident Engineer

Role Description This full-time Resident Engineer role is based in Sungai Petani with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing some work-from-home flexibility. The Resident Engineer will provide on-site and remote technical support, including monitoring systems, troubleshooting issues, and performing maintenance to ensure stable IT operations. Daily tasks include responding to incidents and service requests, coordinating with vendors or internal teams to resolve problems, and assisting with deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes. The role also involves documenting solutions, maintaining accurate records, and advising users on best practices to optimize system performance. The Resident Engineer will collaborate closely with FK Technology’s wider technical team and client stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Strong technical support and troubleshooting skills across common IT infrastructure and systems.
• Experience with system monitoring, maintenance, and incident management in a production environment.
• Ability to document procedures, configurations, and resolutions clearly and accurately.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear terms.
• Proven ability to work independently on-site and remotely, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience in a resident engineer, field engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role is an advantage.
• Willingness to be based in Sungai Petani and to support occasional after-hours or urgent issues when required.
