Reports to: Resource Line Manager
Function: To provide support and advocacy to victims of sexual assault and/or family, friends, or professionals via a toll free, 24-hour crisis and information line.
Hours: Part-time, average 12 to 18 hours per week, with a focus on night and weekend coverage. There is a potential for additional hours, as needed, on a varying weekly schedule. Must be open to working the following shifts any day of the week Sunday thru Saturday, though availability must include weeknight hours (6pm-6am) and weekend shifts. There is flexibility in the shifts assigned, and a schedule is posted each month for employees to plan around.
Ideal candidate has weekday business hour availability.
Resource Line shifts are as follows:
- 6a-12p
- 12-6p
- 6p-12a
- 12a to 6a
The selected candidate will need to complete 30 hours of paid training within the first few weeks of hire in order to start taking shifts.
Fully Remote – must reside in Washington State.
Please Note: This job is performed from the employee's home. This position requires the staff person to have a landline telephone with no extra features (i.e. call waiting, caller id, call blocking) must ring busy, must be in a private location that is free from distraction and noise. KCSARC provides a stipend for the monthly cost of this phone.

Essential Functions:
- Provide sexual assault crisis intervention, support, information and/or referral via the telephone.
- Determine comprehensive service needs of callers.
- Provide information and referral.
- Provide support and information about the effects of victimization.
- Provide information about dealing with the trauma and aftermath of sexual assault.
- Provide information about the medical and legal issues related to sexual assault.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide information on services available in King County and surrounding areas
- Assess the medical needs of the client and provide information about medical issues
- Provide support and information related to the medical exams
- Assist clients and/or guardians to make informed decisions regarding psychological needs
- Provide information and assistance with Crime Victim Compensation application
- Input data into the Client Tracking System in a timely manner
- Work to continually assess service needs
- Attend Resource Line monthly meeting and other agency meetings as needed
- Back-up advocates who are unable to cover shifts due to illness, vacation, or other absences

Minimum Experience
- 4 year college degree plus 1 year directly related work experience; or
- 2 years college/vocational school plus 3 years directly related work experience; or
- 6 years direct work experience
- Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention and/or counseling skills
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field
- Experience working with sexual assault survivors
- Experience working in a rape crisis center
- Bilingual English/Spanish Skills
