Position Overview

The Restoration Intern will support the Restoration team within WRI Brasil’s Forests, Food Systems and Land Use Program. The intern will contribute to the implementation of projects across the portfolio, the organization of events and workshops, the development of knowledge products, and other institutional initiatives.

This internship offers an opportunity to learn about forest and landscape restoration while developing skills in project tracking, information management, and stakeholder coordination.


Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of project progress reports by gathering information and organizing documents and activity records.
  • Support project coordination and status meetings, including preparing and reviewing presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Assist with organizing events, workshops, and meetings in coordination with technical and administrative teams and service providers.
  • Support contracting processes associated with Terms of Reference (ToRs), tracking submissions, deadlines, and follow-up actions with the responsible staff.
  • Conduct literature reviews and gather information on restoration and related topics under the team’s guidance.
  • Assist with preparing, reviewing, and organizing content for project knowledge products and communications materials.
  • Support communication and information sharing among project stakeholders, including organizing and storing materials in SharePoint.
  • Prepare and organize meeting minutes, documenting decisions and follow-up actions.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Biological Sciences, Agronomy, Geography, or a related field.
  • Interest in forest and landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
  • Willingness to undertake technical and administrative support activities and assist with event organization.
  • Previous involvement in academic research, undergraduate research programs, teaching assistantships, university extension projects, or student organizations is desirable.
  • Experience organizing events, workshops, or group activities is desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written communication skills in Portuguese, including the ability to review texts and check information for accuracy.
  • Technical knowledge of restoration.
  • Ability to read documents in English is an asset.
