About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Retoucher to join our post-production studio team. This position is responsible for producing high-quality, accurate, and on-brand visual assets across high-volume e-commerce photography and video workflows.
The Retoucher possesses comprehensive knowledge of technical retouching and applies advanced creative problem-solving skills to resolve a variety of production challenges. This role independently manages assignments, exercises sound judgment when working with limited information, and adapts established approaches to meet project requirements.
This position contributes to the delivery of consistent, production-ready assets while maintaining established creative, technical, and brand standards.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
Retouching & Technical Expertise
- Execute advanced retouching of high-volume product and on-figure e-commerce photography, ensuring final imagery is accurate, consistent, and aligned with brand standards.
- Apply sophisticated masking, compositing, color correction, and image-manipulation techniques to produce polished, production-ready assets.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of apparel, garment construction, fabric textures, lighting, and color to create realistic product representations.
- Assess unusual or complex image-quality issues, identify root causes, and apply creative solutions that maintain visual integrity and production requirements.
- Adapt established retouching techniques and workflows to address varying product characteristics, creative requirements, and technical challenges.
- Ensure final assets meet established creative direction, color standards, technical specifications, and delivery requirements.
· Contributes to the delivery of consistent, production-ready assets while maintaining established creative, technical, and brand standards.
Independent Judgment & Problem-Solving
- Independently manage assigned retouching projects from execution through final delivery, using judgment to determine appropriate approaches and resolve issues.
- Demonstrates strong visual judgment and exceptional attention to detail.
- Evaluate assignments with incomplete information, drawing on professional expertise, established procedures, and prior experience to determine an appropriate course of action.
- Resolve a range of retouching and production challenges creatively while maintaining quality, accuracy, and consistency.
- Identify potential quality or workflow issues and take appropriate action to address them, escalating matters when necessary.
- Balance competing priorities and shifting deadlines while maintaining established production standards and delivery expectations.
- Exercise independent judgment in day-to-day work, with deliverables reviewed at critical points as appropriate.
Collaboration Relationships
- Partner with creative, photography, and production teams to understand project requirements, address challenges, and deliver assets that meet business and creative objectives.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with senior internal partners and stakeholders, including individuals who may be unfamiliar with retouching processes or technical requirements.
- Communicate complex retouching and production considerations clearly, adapting communication style to different audiences.
- Provide professional guidance and advise partners on difficult retouching or image-quality matters within the area of expertise.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve production issues, support consistent execution, and maintain alignment with creative and brand expectations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with creative and production partners, including senior stakeholders.
Production Workflow & Asset Delivery
- Manage assigned work within established production systems, ensuring accurate organization, cataloging, processing, and uploading of visual assets.
- Use proprietary software and asset-management tools to maintain organized files and support efficient production workflows.
- Prepare and export final assets according to applicable digital and print-production specifications.
- Support video and motion-related production needs, including basic video editing, asset creation, and animated GIF workflows as required.
- Perform quality control on completed assets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readiness for delivery.
- Identify opportunities to improve the execution of assigned work and contribute to consistent application of established processes.
What You’ll Bring | Skills & Experience
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Five or more years of related professional experience in technical retouching, preferably within a high-volume apparel, fashion, product, or e-commerce environment. Equivalent work experience may substitute for education requirements.
- A professional portfolio demonstrating advanced retouching capabilities, including before-and-after examples with an emphasis on apparel and product still photography.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing complex retouching assignments and resolving production challenges.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, including complex retouching, compositing, masking, and color correction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of apparel, fabric textures, garment details, lighting, and color accuracy.
- Strong understanding of image-quality standards and the ability to identify and resolve visual or technical inconsistencies.
- Experience working with high-volume image production workflows and meeting demanding turnaround expectations.
- Working knowledge of video editing and digital asset creation, including animated GIFs and video workflows.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, Bridge, and other relevant creative production tools.
- Experience with asset-management systems, proprietary software, and project-management platforms such as Workfront or similar systems.
- Understanding of digital image delivery requirements and print-production export specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands
· Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time

- Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Must utilize visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment
- Hours regularly 40 hours per week, as work dictates, in a hybrid work environment from our Dublin, California office.
$95,000 - $102,000. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications. Salary information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
