Cash Posting Specialist

Location: 100% Remote (U.S.) - MUST reside in state listed below

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | Standard hours 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM MST/8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cash Posting Specialist to join a growing healthcare organization focused on transforming patient outcomes through innovative virtual care solutions. This is a fully remote position supporting a national revenue cycle team responsible for ensuring accurate payment posting, reconciliation, and resolution of payment discrepancies. If you have experience with healthcare payment posting, ERA/EOB processing, cash reconciliation, and revenue cycle operations, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

• Post electronic and manual payments including ERAs, EFTs, checks, and credit card transactions
• Reconcile daily payment activity to bank deposits and billing system records
• Research and resolve unapplied and unidentified cash
• Investigate discrepancies between remittance files, deposits, and posted transactions
• Post contractual adjustments, payer adjustments, denials, recoupments, and refunds
• Analyze payment variances and determine root causes
• Maintain reconciliation documentation and audit trails
• Collaborate with billing, accounts receivable, denials, finance, and payer teams
• Support month-end close activities and reporting requirements
• Ensure compliance with company policies and HIPAA regulations

Qualifications

• 2+ years of healthcare revenue cycle experience
• Experience with cash posting, payment posting, payment reconciliation, or accounts receivable
• Strong understanding of ERA/EOB processing and payer remittance activity
• Experience researching unapplied cash and payment discrepancies
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including filtering, sorting, lookups, and pivot tables
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a high-volume environment
• Experience with Athenahealth or a similar healthcare billing platform preferred
• Experience with commercial and government payers preferred
• Knowledge of contractual adjustments, denials, recoupments, and refunds preferred
• Strong 10-key data entry skills preferred

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
