Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Revenue Cycle Team Leader –Billing & Collections is responsible for assisting the Manager/Supervisor with maintaining the assigned agencies and billing and collections revenue cycle tasks for all payers within established time frames of each payor. The Team Leader is also responsible for the correct and timely resolution of all assigned accounts while following all regulatory compliance, legal and financial requirements. The Team Leader will also provide training to Billing Revenue Cycle Coordinators and potentially other members of the RCM team.
- Ensures all assigned revenue cycle tasks are completed, reviewed, submitted or closed within the time frames established, accurately and according to contractual specifications. Assist in expediting claim submission and avoid bad debt.
- Maintains knowledge of claim submission, statute of limitations and denials for individual payors.
- Identifies problem accounts or payor trends and provides assistance to associations when working with payor resolution. Develop resolutions to facilitate timely processing of claims.
- Monitors and audits assigned patient accounts to determine necessary action, ability to collect and potential loss in order to bring the account to successful conclusion.
- Receives, investigates and responds to inquiries from payors and or agencies concerning accounts receivables according to established policies and procedures, on a regular basis.
- Resolves all customer requests, inquiries and concerns in an expedient and respectful manner, while problem solving and asking for assistance when necessary to come to a resolution.
- Assists with evaluation and development of best practices processes for the area of responsibility. Identifies problems and develops resolutions to facilitate timely processing of all claims.
- Maintains current knowledge of changing or new contracts, and insurance regulations.
- Communicates with Supervisor / Manager any developments within their area of responsibility which may require action or be pertinent to the performance of their duties; provides manager potential resolutions regarding problems in their respective area of responsibility.
- Assists management with maintaining key performance indicators and identifying trends to resolve any issues in which the goals or KPI are not being met.
- Provides coverage and back up to coordinators for assigned accounts.
- Provides education and guidance to associates to ensure appropriate processes are followed.
- Provides pertinent feedback to management for annual and ongoing staff assessments.
- Identifies trends and workflow issues that need additional coaching or staff mentoring.
- Assists management with assessing training and development needs and conducts training for assigned staff to meet required competencies and provides opportunities for growth.
- Functions as a role model and assists with driving achievement of organizational goals and objectives by encouraging and facilitating improvement initiatives and cooperation among associates.
- Maintains a high level of staff morale as evidenced by team spirit, a sense of belonging, and adequate recognition of accomplishments.
Job Requirements
- Candidates must reside in one of the approved remote worker states: AR, AZ, CO, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MI, NC, ND, NE, NJ, OH, SC, TN, TX, UT, WI.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years’ experience in healthcare setting required.
- Two years accounting reconciliations, balancing, and month end close and data entry is preferred.
- Good communication and leadership skills are essential to the position.
- Must be detail oriented and able to follow through and meet established deadlines, set priorities and multitask.
- Must be reliable, responsible, goal-oriented and flexible; demonstrates a vested interest in self-development.
