About the team
We are a dynamic, driven and very friendly team offering 360 representation to select authors. We are proud to work with many of the biggest author brands but we also love to launch debut talents on the international stage or to media platforms. Our work is at the intersection of publishing and sales and we’re all passionate about what we do.
The role
The Penguin Random House Rights teams help our authors go global. We work to sell PRH UK’s books into other markets and channels including North American rights: licensing our books to US and Canadian publishers for publication in North America.
Translation rights: selling rights to translate our UK titles into other languages.
Dramatisation rights: creating opportunities to turn our books into films, television programs and theatre productions.
As a Rights Assistant, you’ll take charge of a wide range of administrative and sales tasks to support a fast-paced team, as well as work on group-wide projects. You will manage several projects at any one time and work to deadlines that enable the team to deliver a high quality of service to our customers. You’ll work on rights projects for many of our leading authors and will liaise with a variety of internal colleagues as well as connecting with key customers.
Key responsibilities:
- Produce creative presentations of rights business, working with the Penguin brand team
- Help to organise rights events such as author receptions or virtual webinars and team socials
- Provide administrative support, such as invoicing, processing contracts, creating reports and minute-taking
- Provide sales support including book fair scheduling, travel booking, expenses, loading of deals on to database
- Negotiate, sell and supply production files to customers
- Prepare sales material in advance of sales trips
- Negotiate and renew expired licences
- Work collaboratively with other assistants in the team to improve ways of working

Salary
£29,000 plus benefits.
Hybrid working
While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect the successful candidate to work from our London-based office three days per week, and offer the remaining two days to be worked remotely.
