Risk Analyst
Location: Dublin, Ireland
This role is remote. Candidates must be based in Ireland.
Legend Trading is a leading global crypto trading and financial services firm, trusted by over 1,000 institutional clients worldwide. We provide institutional liquidity, OTC trading, fiat on/off-ramp, and stablecoin payment services across major markets.
Our Irish entity, Legend Trading Europe, has been officially granted a MiCA licence by the Central Bank of Ireland, marking a key milestone in our expansion across the European Economic Area (EEA). We also have an Electronic Money Institution application in progress.
At Legend Trading, we are innovators shaping the future of finance. With a strong global footprint and institutional-grade infrastructure, we bridge traditional finance and digital assets, offering seamless, regulatory-compliant, and secure solutions to our partners and clients.
We are hiring a Risk Analyst to support our Chief Risk Officer.
This is a support role, and we would rather say so up front. The Chief Risk Officer owns the risk framework and sets the direction of the function. Your job is to be the second pair of hands that keeps it running: maintaining the registers, running the data, coordinating the assessments, chasing the actions, and preparing the material that goes to the Risk Committee and the board.
The focus is enterprise and operational risk rather than market or counterparty risk. You will spend your time on the risk framework itself: risk and control self-assessments, key risk indicators, incident and issue management, third party and ICT risk under DORA, and risk reporting.
Reporting line: Chief Risk Officer (PCF-14)
You are organised in a way other people notice. Risk frameworks live or die on whether someone is keeping the registers current and chasing the owners who have not responded. That someone will be you, and you will need to be comfortable holding colleagues to a date without being asked twice.
You are good with data and honest about what it shows. You will be collecting KRIs from across the business, spotting when a number has moved, and asking why before anyone else has noticed. You would rather flag an uncomfortable trend early than present a clean pack that turns out to be wrong.
You write clearly. A material part of this role is turning messy inputs from around the business into something a Risk Committee can read in five minutes and act on.
You are curious about how things actually work. Operational risk is largely about understanding processes well enough to see where they break. You will need to ask people about their day job and genuinely listen to the answer.
You work well in a support capacity. You can take a task, get most of the way there on your own, and come back with specific questions rather than stalling or guessing. You take review as how you improve. Escalating early is expected behaviour here, not a failure.
If you are looking for a role with independent ownership of a risk function, this is not that role yet. If you want to learn one properly from the person who runs it, inside a licensed MiCA entity with a second authorisation in progress, it is a strong seat.
• Work directly with the Chief Risk Officer with visibility of the full risk cycle, from incident through to board reporting
• Exposure across a live MiCA authorisation and an EMI application in progress, which is unusually broad at this level
• Help build out a fully authorised Irish entity at a formative stage, with a second authorisation in progress
• Support for professional qualification, including fees and study leave
• Work with a team that values integrity, innovation, and excellence
Risk framework and appetite
• Maintain the risk management framework documentation, risk taxonomy and risk policies, including review cycles and version control
• Support the annual refresh of the risk appetite statement and track performance against appetite thresholds
• Assist with maintenance of the enterprise risk register
Risk and control self-assessment
• Coordinate the RCSA cycle across business functions: scheduling, preparing templates, facilitating sessions and documenting outputs
• Follow up with control owners on evidence and attestations
• Draft RCSA findings and summaries for review by the Chief Risk Officer
Key risk indicators and reporting
• Collect, validate and trend KRI data from across the business, and investigate movements before they are reported
• Compile the risk section of the Risk Committee and board pack, including management information, heat maps, issues log and appendices
• Prepare briefing material ahead of committee meetings and regulator engagement
Incident, issue and action management
• Maintain the operational risk event and near miss log, including root cause capture
• Track remediation actions to closure, chase owners for updates, and flag slipping deadlines to the Chief Risk Officer
• Support post incident reviews and lessons learned write ups
Third party and ICT risk (DORA)
• Maintain the outsourcing and third party register, including the register of information required under DORA
• Support third party risk assessments at onboarding and on periodic review
• Assist with operational resilience work, including business continuity testing and ICT scenario exercises
Change and new product risk
• Support risk assessment of new products, markets, partners and material changes
• Assist with risk input into the EMI authorisation workstream
• Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken
• One to three years in a risk, internal audit, compliance, controls or operations role within a regulated financial services firm, payments institution, EMI, fintech or crypto-asset service provider
• Working understanding of the three lines of defence model and how an enterprise risk framework fits together
• Strong data handling skills, including confident use of Excel, and the judgement to question a number that looks wrong
• Strong written drafting skills and high attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to run a reporting and assessment calendar independently
• Based in Ireland and eligible to work in Ireland
• Exposure to MiCA, DORA, PSD2 or EMD2
• Experience running or supporting an RCSA cycle
• Experience preparing Risk Committee or board reporting packs
• Familiarity with GRC tooling, or with ISO 31000 or ISO 27001
• Understanding of crypto-asset specific operational risks, including custody, key management, wallet operations and settlement
• Professional qualification in progress or completed: IRM, ACOI, or an internal audit or information security certification
Depending on final scoping, this role may be designated a Controlled Function under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity Standards. The successful candidate will be subject to due diligence prior to appointment and, if designated, will be required to meet and continue to meet the Standards, including annual certification.
