This hybrid role (2–3 days onsite weekly) from a local Aon office in Bloomington, MN

How this opportunity is different

This Risk Consultant role is more focused on self-insurance compliance and regulatory filings than traditional risk consulting. The position helps clients maintain workers' compensation and auto liability self-insurance programs by managing state filings, reviewing payroll and claims data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing client guidance. It is ideal for professionals with experience in insurance operations, compliance, claims, or regulatory affairs rather than broader risk management or sales-focused consulting roles.

What the day will look like

  • Prepare workers’ compensation self-insurance regulatory filings
  • Prepare and manage auto liability self-insurance regulatory filings
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of state self-insurance filings
  • Prepare/review data including payroll reports and claim data from numerous RMIS and claims systems
  • Prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
  • Log information and maintain databases
  • Prepare correspondence and forms for state regulatory agencies
  • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships
  • Provide guidance to clients
  • Assist with sale and cross-selling of compliance products
  • Work in team environment

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 5+ years business experience. Self-insurance compliance, claims, legal, or other insurance-related experience preferred.
  • Special Skills: general office and math skills, computer literate (proficiency with MicroSoft Word, Excel, Access and Adobe Acrobat Pro).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to organize, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, work well in a team environment and manage a flexible work style.

Education: College degree, with coursework in paralegal, risk management, or insurance studies preferred

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $74,000 to $96,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
