Risk Officer

City: Belgrade

Role Summary:

The Risk Officer supports MaxBet in managing its risk profile and maintaining effective controls across the four jurisdictions in which we operate – Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and North Macedonia. As part of the Risk Management function, the role helps to identify, assess, mitigate and monitor enterprise and emerging risks, including operational, strategic, legal, project and reputational risks, in line with the policies and frameworks of MaxBet and the Flutter International.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in designing and implementing the enterprise-wide risk management strategy, policies and procedures for MaxBet companies in all four jurisdictions.
  
• Ensure the creation, maintenance and periodic update of relevant documentation (e.g. Risk Acceptance Acts, Accepted Risk Log and Risk Registers).
  
• Take part in the risk assessment process, including analysis of current risks and identification of potential risks affecting the company.
  
• Evaluate control effectiveness, including through assurance testing of the key controls in place.
  
• Provide opinions on the acceptance of risks.
  
• Engage in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on material and recurring issues.
  
• Assess the effectiveness of the risk escalation process.
  
• Coordinate the arrangements for Risk Committee meetings and draft the related documentation.
  
• Build risk awareness among staff by providing support and training on risk matters.
  
• Engage in internal and external audits within the competence of the Risk Management Division.
  
• Support monitoring and reporting on risk events, risk appetite and risk limits, and on the adequacy of the control environment, to senior management.
  
• Work closely with Legal, Compliance and business teams in each market, and with Flutter Group risk functions, to apply Group policies and frameworks in a way that fits local requirements.
  

Qualifications:

• University degree in Law, Economics, Technology or a related field.
  
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in risk management, internal control, internal audit or compliance.
  
• Working knowledge of risk management frameworks and standards, including risk assessment and control testing.
  
• Experience in regulated, consumer-facing industries is preferred; experience in gaming, betting, fintech, financial services or similar sectors is highly desirable.
  
• Experience working across several jurisdictions or within an international group is an advantage, as are professional qualifications in risk, compliance, AML/CFT or internal audit.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities across departments and work independently in a fast-changing and dynamic environment.
  
• Professional working proficiency in English.
