Position Overview
Citrini Research is looking for a robotics analyst to help cover one of the most important emerging themes in markets: the move from software-only AI into physical AI, automation, humanoids, industrial robotics, and the supply chains behind them.
We are not looking for a narrow technical specialist or someone with a decade of industry experience. We are looking for someone early in their career who is intensely curious, high-energy, analytical, and willing to learn fast.
The job is to figure out what matters, who matters, and where the investable opportunities are. That means tracking companies, products, deployments, suppliers, customers, technical milestones, and market narratives, then turning that work into clear research.
A robotics background is helpful. A finance background is helpful. Neither is strictly required. What matters most is judgment, curiosity, writing ability, and the ability to chase a topic until you actually understand it.
Responsibilities
Research robotics, humanoids, automation, physical AI, industrial technology, and related supply chains.
Track companies, product launches, factory deployments, partnerships, funding rounds, customer announcements, and supplier relationships.
Build simple but useful datasets on robotics companies, components, deployments, revenue exposure, and market size.
Identify public companies that may benefit from robotics growth, including suppliers, manufacturers, software companies, semiconductor vendors, and industrial automation businesses.
Read filings, earnings transcripts, investor decks, technical papers, patents, product materials, and industry commentary.
Speak with industry experts, operators, engineers, investors, suppliers, and customers.
Write research notes and longer thematic reports for investors.
Help separate real technical or commercial progress from hype.
Requirements
1-4 years of professional experience preferrred, but will consider recent graduates.
Strong interest in robotics, AI, automation, manufacturing, engineering, industrial technology, or public markets.
Ability to learn technical subjects quickly and explain them clearly.
Strong writing skills.
Strong analytical instincts and attention to detail.
Comfortable working independently and figuring things out without a fixed playbook.
Willingness to dig through messy sources, obscure companies, filings, presentations, transcripts, and technical materials.
High curiosity, high output, and low ego.
Helpful Backgrounds
Robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, or related coursework.
Equity research, investing, consulting, banking, journalism, corporate strategy, or industry research.
Experience with robotics clubs, engineering projects, labs, startups, internships, competitions, or technical writing.
Comfort with Excel or basic data analysis.
Python, SQL, CAD, simulation, or other technical tools are a plus, but not required.
Existing writing, research, projects, GitHub work, blog posts, investment memos, or technical breakdowns.
What We Are Not Looking For
Someone who needs a perfectly defined assignment before starting, summarizes what others have already said, is purely academic and uninterested in business or markets, or mistakes complexity for insight.
Growth Areas
Help build Citrini’s robotics and physical AI coverage from an early stage.
Develop expertise across humanoids, automation, actuators, sensors, machine vision, simulation, manufacturing, and robotics supply chains.
Learn how to turn technical research into investment conclusions.
Build relationships with founders, engineers, operators, suppliers, and investors.
Publish work read by professional investors and allocators.
