Based in Espoo, Finland, GIM Robotics is a leading developer of autonomous mobile robot solutions. We're driven by a vision to design and deploy the most advanced, reliable robotic systems for a wide range of industrial applications, making a real impact on operational efficiency and safety.
At GIM Robotics, we're leading the change in robotics, developing robust and scalable software that brings autonomous robots and machines to life. We're committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible and are now looking for a Robotics Engineer, Deployment and Applications to join our team of 40 experts. If you're ready to tackle fascinating technical challenges and join a dynamic, forward-thinking team, we want to hear from you!
What you'll be doing
As a Robotics Engineer, Deployment and Applications, you'll take our autonomy software from the development environment to real machines in the field. You'll integrate our software stack with customer vehicles and machines, including sensors, on-board computers, wiring, power and machine interfaces, and bring each installation from first power-on to reliable autonomous operation. You'll adapt and extend the software for each customer application with Python, C++ and ROS2, configure, calibrate and tune the system on site, and run field tests and customer acceptance. You'll also design and build the electrical integration of our installations, from wiring diagrams and cable harnesses to sensor mounting and power distribution, and where needed, custom electronics. You'll work closely with our customers and our development teams, and turn what you learn in the field into improvements to our products. The role includes travel to customer sites in Finland and abroad. Our goal is to enable our customers' machines to move autonomously, and you'll be at the heart of making that happen.
Our culture promotes a positive and engaging work environment where every voice is heard. We operate with a can-do attitude and a deep sense of teamwork to achieve our shared goals. Our diverse team appreciates different viewpoints and is dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of continuous growth and shared learning.
What we are looking for
You're a highly skilled and independent team player with a strong interest in autonomous mobile robots and in making real machines work in the field. You're as comfortable with a multimeter and a toolbox as with a laptop. You have a proactive attitude and a drive to spot opportunities for improvement. To succeed in this role, you should have:
Over 3 years of hands-on experience in robotics, mechatronics or automation engineering, with a track record of bringing real machines or robot systems into operation
A university-level degree (B.Sc., M.Sc. or higher) in a relevant field like mechatronics, robotics, automation, or electrical engineering
A mechatronics background: you understand how the mechanical, electrical and software parts of a machine work together, and you can troubleshoot across all of them
Solid Python and C++ skills for developing, integrating and debugging robot software, and experience with build tools such as colcon
Experience with ROS2 in real robot systems: launching and configuring nodes, recording and analysing data, and debugging data, communication and timing issues
Electrical design and hands-on skills: reading and drawing wiring diagrams, building cable harnesses, installing sensors and computers, and working with power distribution, fuses and connectors
Experience with machine and sensor interfaces, such as CAN, Ethernet and serial buses
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and a systematic approach to troubleshooting in the field
Proficiency with Git, Docker, and Linux environments
Good communication skills in English, and the ability to work directly with customers on site
Willingness to learn; in our small teams everybody needs to do a bit of everything
We also consider the following skills a plus:
Electronics design experience: schematics and PCB design with tools such as KiCad, and prototyping and testing of circuits
Experience with sensor integration and calibration for lidars, cameras, radars, IMUs and GNSS receivers
Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers, and with machine communication protocols such as CANopen, CAN or Modbus
Knowledge of electrical safety and machinery standards
Experience with heavy, off-road or industrial machinery, for example in mining, ports, logistics, agriculture or construction
Experience with agile-based development
Experience with web frontend technologies, such as Typescript and React
Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and Pipelines development, and with deployment automation using tools such as Ansible
Project management and direct customer interaction experience
Finnish language skills and a valid driving licence
What we offer

We've built a supportive culture where you can thrive both personally and professionally, and our benefits reflect that commitment. You'll enjoy a lunch benefit, comprehensive occupational health care, leisure time insurance, and access to a gym to help you stay balanced. We also support your growth with dedicated time for self-development, and you'll find a vibrant community through regular afterwork hangouts and company events.
We believe that our best work happens when we bring together people with different perspectives and life experiences. We are committed to building a team where everyone feels they belong and has the opportunity to do their best work, regardless of who they are or where they come from.
