Robotics Senior Software Engineer, Test Infrastructure

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will build and evolve the software infrastructure that enables reliable, continuous testing of autonomous robotic systems. Your work will help our teams detect problems earlier, improve release confidence, and scale validation as our products and deployments grow.

- Work model:

This role is contributing to the Sevensense by ABB team as part of ABB Robotics in Spain and Switzerland. Based in Sant Quirze del Vallès, Barcelona, you will work closely with robotics and software engineers to make testing of our industry‑leading visual localization system more scalable, reliable, and developer-friendly.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Designing, building and maintaining scalable test execution infrastructure across virtual, HIL and physical test environments.
• Building software for test orchestration, resource scheduling, test environment setup, deployment and result collection.
• Integrating test environments with CI/CD and improving runner reliability, parallelization, caching, failure recovery and execution speed.
• Developing tools and APIs to support debugging, observability, failure analysis and infrastructure health.
• Making test execution reproducible and reliable, including helping distinguish infrastructure failures from product regressions.

Qualifications for the Role

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure engineering.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong programming skills in Python. Experience with Rust or C++ is highly desirable.
• Strong hands-on Linux experience, including system troubleshooting, networking and containerized/virtualized environments.
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD infrastructure, including runners, jobs, artifacts, caching, parallel execution and failure recovery.
• Experience with Docker and software deployment/configuration.
• Experience with HIL, embedded or edge devices (Jetson), robotics or ROS2 is a strong plus, but previous robotics experience is not required.
• You are at ease communicating in English.
