The role
We’re looking for an RTR Accountant to join our Group Finance team on a fixed-term contract through to 31 December 2027, with a particular focus on the US marketplace entities across Cavu and Apollo.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll take responsibility for management accounting across these entities, delivering accurate and timely financial reporting through month-end, quarter-end and year-end.
This is more than a reporting role. You’ll get under the numbers to understand performance, provide meaningful financial insight and help strengthen our financial controls. You’ll also play an important part in improving and standardising our Finance and Accounting processes as the business continues to evolve.
You’ll work with colleagues across Group Finance and Cavu, giving you exposure to a broad range of teams and stakeholders.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and ledger reviews.
- Ensure financial results are reported accurately and in line with accounting standards and internal deadlines.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving outstanding items.
- Maintain effective financial controls and robust supporting documentation.
- Carry out variance analysis, identify key performance drivers and turn financial information into meaningful insight.
- Work with stakeholders across the business, providing financial reporting and responding to accounting queries.
- Support audit readiness and compliance with accounting standards, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate anomalies, errors and reconciliation differences and determine appropriate corrective action.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardisation and automation across Finance and Accounting processes.
- Support finance transformation initiatives, system enhancements and the introduction of better ways of working.
What will make you succesful in the role?
- You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience preparing and reviewing management accounts.
- You'll have a strong grounding in management accounting, including journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and month-end close activities. You'll also understand the importance of good financial controls, statutory reporting, audit requirements and regulatory compliance.
- You’ll be someone who can look beyond the numbers, spot discrepancies or unusual trends and work through the detail to understand what’s driving them. Just as importantly, you’ll be comfortable working with stakeholders across the business and communicating financial information clearly.
You’ll also bring:
- Relevant experience working within a General Ledger function.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding reporting deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence working with different stakeholders and challenging constructively where needed.
- The ability to adapt and contribute positively in a changing environment.
- Experience using SAP or a similar ERP system, together with intermediate to advanced Excel skills, would be advantageous.
If you don't meet every single requirement but believe you have the skills and experience to succeed in the role, we'd still encourage you to apply.
