Sales Development Representative (SDR) & Sales Support Specialist

Compensation: USD $1,300-$1,800/month base + performance-based commission

Location: Remote (South Africa)

Schedule: Full-time | U.S. business hours / North American time-zone alignment

Employment Type: Independent Contractor

About The Company

Our client is a growing digital marketing and growth agency helping businesses across North America generate more leads, customers, and revenue.

The company is entering a new phase of growth, with paid advertising and inbound lead generation now being actively expanded. As lead volume increases, the team is looking for a highly capable sales professional to help ensure opportunities are properly qualified, followed up with, and moved efficiently through the sales pipeline.

You’ll work closely with the VP of Sales and become an important part of the front end of the company's sales engine.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) & Sales Support Specialist to support the sales process from initial lead engagement through handoff to the VP of Sales and continued follow-up afterward.

The core objective is simple: help the VP of Sales do more selling and closing by owning the work around the sales conversation.

You’ll respond to inbound leads, qualify prospects, book and confirm sales calls, conduct outbound prospecting, maintain the CRM, and follow up with prospects who have not yet converted.

This is a hands-on sales role suited to someone who is confident on the phone, highly organized, persistent with follow-up, and comfortable communicating with North American business owners.

Key Responsibilities

Inbound Lead Qualification & Appointment Setting

  • Respond quickly to new inbound leads generated through paid campaigns, lead magnets, referrals, and other channels.
  • Qualify prospects based on business profile, needs, fit, and readiness to engage.
  • Conduct initial conversations to determine whether prospects meet the company's ideal customer profile.
  • Book qualified prospects directly onto the VP of Sales’ calendar.
  • Confirm appointments and proactively reduce no-shows through timely reminders and follow-up.

Outbound Prospecting

  • Conduct targeted outbound outreach to prospective businesses across the U.S. and Canada.
  • Use phone, email, SMS, and other appropriate channels to initiate conversations with prospective customers.
  • Work from provided prospect lists and identify relevant decision-makers.
  • Follow structured outreach and follow-up sequences while adapting messaging naturally to the prospect.
  • Consistently generate new conversations and qualified opportunities for the sales pipeline.

Pipeline Management & Follow-Up

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records within GoHighLevel (GHL) or the company's CRM.
  • Track lead stages, conversations, activities, follow-ups, and next steps.
  • Follow up with prospects who have spoken with the VP of Sales but have not yet moved forward.
  • Re-engage older, inactive, or previously lost opportunities where appropriate.
  • Keep prospects warm through thoughtful, persistent, and professional communication.
  • Ensure no qualified opportunity falls through the cracks.

Sales Support & Administration

  • Support the VP of Sales with the administrative and coordination work surrounding sales calls.
  • Help keep the sales calendar organized and optimized.
  • Prepare prospects for scheduled conversations where appropriate.
  • Ensure relevant lead information and notes are available before sales calls.
  • Provide accurate pipeline updates and reporting to help the sales team understand activity and opportunities.

Required Hard Skills

  • 2-4+ years of experience in SDR, BDR, inside sales, appointment setting, lead qualification, or a similar sales role.
  • Demonstrated experience with outbound prospecting and phone-based sales development.
  • Strong experience qualifying leads and booking appointments.
  • Experience managing prospects through a CRM or sales pipeline.
  • Experience with GoHighLevel (GHL) is highly preferred; HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce, or comparable CRM experience is also valuable.
  • Strong written and spoken English with near-native fluency.
  • Comfortable communicating professionally with U.S. and Canadian prospects by phone.
  • Strong follow-up discipline and ability to manage multiple prospects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working toward measurable activity and appointment-setting targets.

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following environments is advantageous:

  • Digital marketing or marketing agencies
  • B2B services
  • SaaS
  • Lead generation
  • Appointment setting
  • Local-business sales
  • High-volume outbound sales
  • Sales development / inside sales

Soft Skills

  • Highly confident and natural on the phone.
  • Articulate, personable, and persuasive without being overly scripted.
  • Persistent and comfortable with repeated follow-up.
  • Commercially motivated and results-oriented.
  • Highly organized and disciplined with pipeline management.
  • Able to prioritize quickly in a fast-moving sales environment.
  • Comfortable taking initiative without requiring constant supervision.
  • Strong judgment when determining which prospects deserve additional attention.
  • Resilient and comfortable hearing “no.”
  • Able to communicate naturally and professionally with business owners and decision-makers.

What Success Looks Like

Success In This Role Means

  • Qualified leads are contacted quickly and consistently.
  • The VP of Sales receives a steady flow of qualified sales conversations.
  • Appointments are properly confirmed and show-up rates remain strong.
  • Outbound activity consistently creates new conversations and opportunities.
  • Prospects receive timely and thoughtful follow-up throughout the sales cycle.
  • The CRM remains accurate, organized, and actionable.
  • Previously stalled opportunities are appropriately re-engaged.
  • The VP of Sales spends more of his time doing what he does best: selling and closing.

About The Ideal Candidate

You’re a confident sales professional who enjoys the front end of the sales process — finding opportunities, starting conversations, qualifying prospects, booking meetings, and relentlessly following up.

You don't need to be the person who closes the final deal. Instead, you take pride in making sure the right opportunities reach the closer at the right time, with the right information, and that no good opportunity gets lost afterward.

You’re comfortable picking up the phone, speaking with business owners, handling objections, and following up multiple times without losing your professionalism.

Most importantly, you're someone who can take ownership of the sales support function and make the VP of Sales more productive, more focused, and more effective.

Why This Role Matters

The company is entering a period where lead generation is increasing, making consistent sales follow-up increasingly important.

This role will help bridge the gap between marketing-generated interest and revenue, ensuring that new opportunities are acted on quickly, qualified appropriately, and followed through with discipline.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to become a key part of a growing sales operation, work directly alongside senior leadership, and have a measurable impact on the company's pipeline and revenue growth.
